It would cost exponentially more. A modern day rocket can lift off up to around 50,000 pounds and it would require several million pounds for all of the food, medicine, rocket fuel etc. I personally would never go, on the 9 month journey out there you would be exposed to radiation and cosmic rays meaning Cancer is virtually inevitable, not to mention that you muscles would shrivel in a weightless environment on the journey over there.

Good idea, and when they're half-way there open a few windows and watch the show happen

NASA: You've been chosen to go TO MARS
Guy: WOO OMG I CAN TELL EVERYONE IVE BEEN TO MARS!!!!! WOO WOO
NASA: But were leaving you their for dead. You're not important and we can't afford it, so yeah.
    Guy: ...
NASA: And if you say no, someone from the CIA will kill you.
    Guy: ...
    NASA: Suit up, big boy

Anyway who would accept this unless they know they're going to die soon, and then NASA wouldn't even send them because they would be too weak as they're illl/old.

I think I'd probably do it to be honest. Being the first human ever to visit another planet is a very big deal, you can't comprehend how big of an achievement that is. No matter what I do on earth, I'd never match such an achievement so meh, may as well do it.

By 2030 I'd of lived most my life anyway cause after your 30, life goes downhill anyway?

Pretty bloody depressing journey, and screwed if something goes wrong during transit.
