I posted about a job i was being interviewed for the other day well I got it, but it's only a christmas temp job.
I sometimes hear about firms keeping people on after the Christmas period though so what are my chances of being kept on?

Alexandra!
I remember your thread, well done
I'm assuming it's a part time posititon. The good thing about part time positions, is regular staff take time off, for holidays etc. so although you may have been employed just for Christmas, make the very most of your time there and show what a valuable member of staff you are. If they are in a postition to offer you regular work then you are in with an excellent chance. Don't be disheartened though if you aren't kept on, as many businesses are struggling in this current climate.
It's the quality of your posts that count, not the quantity!
Dignity does not consist in possessing honours, but in deserving them.
Ah, we have been doing this in business studies.
Some managers do keep people on after a temporary placement. Basically if you work to a high standard etc then maybe they will keep you on as a permanent employee.
He said it's a temp placement -facepalm-I remember your thread, well done

Anyway...work your hardest all the time you are there. Don't slack, don't look bored, be enthusiastic and work at 110% and you will have a good chance. But don't be put off if you're not.

She established that "-facepalm-", as you say!
As for the answer, unfortunately the chance is gonna be quite slim unless you really work your socks off. Be enthusiastic and make sure that you are known to your boss as a good employee, continue to strive and you never know, you may get a chance to stay after christmas!
I wish you the best of luck.

Anyway yeah, it's unlikely, BUT, if you work hard there's a chance, so put in loads of effort and good luck.

Dont understand why people saying there a low chance you will keep the job...I bet 99% that they will keep you unless your a right phat who does ****all but I doubt thats you.
You should have signed a contract, read it...
Just work hard and offer to help out whenever you can. I did this when I first started at my work as a Xmas temp and 2 years on I am still there
If you don't get kept on, don't be too down. At my workplace they kept people on record and gave them shifts at other stores every so often. In fact 2 of the Xmas temps from last year are now working again as Xmas temps this year
Good luck and enjoy your job, is it in retail you are working in?
I have had 2 christmas temp jobs in my life and never been kept on but did get the job instantly when I applied for a perm position 6 months later.
Who knows though they say Christmas has the most holiday related deaths so they may find themselves short staffed.
