Whilst they have every right to take the sites down, going to ICANN and forcing the domain down for the globe? This could get interesting.

Good news in my opinion. Maybe they will block out some annoyingly racist forums.

Initial intentions are always good, however it's a small step to blocking wikileaks or websites which aren't even in America.

I think absolute power corrupting here will be occurring probably on a margin greater than that of which we'd prefer, although you've got to see the cup half full in a bad situation.

Well technically they can only take down domains that are registered in the USA, most of these dodgey websites are hosted elsewhere so Wikileaks and so on would be pretty safe if they have number of servers around the world and their domain isn't USA registered.

Can they actually do that though? I haven't heard of them taking a domain out from the whole globe sort of speak.

This is where the internet gets controlled and the watch all of our screens and see what we do, what we eat, what we buy online, what we like to view. Get the idea? We don't want to be restricted and the internet should be open. (Although they should close down terrorist websites if there is any)

What a stupid idea. The internet should be the major place for freedom of expression and open to all. If I or anyone else does not like a website, but others support it, then it should still exist and we should have the brains and common sense to simply not go on them if we do not enjoy them. Waste of time and money :/

The first stage, well not first but another step in the goverments search for power and to tell us what we like and what we view. Pathetic.

I'm with Ryan on this one, the internet remains one of the few places where you are still able to fully express yourself, espically without repercussions.
