I'm not suprised with this result in the slightest to be honest, I have always had my doubts about FIFA having it in for England. In all fairness we would of held one of the best World Cups and I thought that our bid was better than Russia's, Spain/Portugal's and Holland/Belgium's. Good luck to the Russians but I have a sneaky feeling that the 2018 World Cup will be one of the worst World Cups.

Anyway, with everything that's gone on, the English bid can leave Zurich with their heads held high and we as a nation should be hugely proud of them and the bid. They put together a fantastic bid, provided FIFA with everything they wanted, money, passion, legacy, government support and funding etc, but it wasn't good enough. It was on paper the best bid - by far, the potentially most successful, most rewarding (in terms of money and legacy) and greatest World Cup in history.

This Is just another example of Blatter feeding his huge ego, saying HE wants to take the WC all around the globe, Africa, the Middle East and now Eastern Europe. The man is an ego maniac, and the sooner he is gone - the better it is for us English.

I say it's FIFAs loss, not ours.

    I predicted this outcome.

Russia bribed them - as Panorama proved. So did Qatar but no one cares. The unfortunate thing is that Panorama could've aired NEXT week and got BETTER audience attention once we had won/lost the bid. If we had lost then people would've paid more attention because they'd be able to point fingers - if we had one we'd just be like "at least they changed in time". But they showed it before hand and could potentially be scapegoats for the bid's failure.

But meh, Russia will suck in 2018 because there's no decent stadiums. Qatar will be alright but I'd have voted England & Australia.

OMG are people still talking about this... get over it - we've not got the World Cup in 2018... so what I'm sure we will all survive.

They investigated claims of other countries bribing. So they claimed to be American companies offering huge sums for their vote. All of them (including vice-president) took the bribes.

Put it this way, now you may never see a world cup in England in your life time. It kinda hurts to think that in the future when I have kids that I wont be able to go and watch England in England in the world cup.

    The average age of someone in UK is 80. I think you're what...16? the next one to bid for is 2026. So when you're 32. Then 2030 - 36. 2034, 2038, 2042, 2046, 2050, 2054, 2058, 2062, 2066, 2070, 2074 (when you're 80). I'd be surprised if we didn't host one of those 13.
