Default The meaning of 'Handlebars' by Flobots

Does anyone really know the meaning of the song? All songs have meanings and stuff but this one confuses me. The video shows some idea but I still have no clue.

I always thought it was about the government and talking from the leader of a country's perspective, but there are many meanings I am sure.

Listening to it again I think it's showing as you accomplish more things, you become more greedy and want to do more ect. But it's also saying kinda a **** you to people who were putting him down. As Dean said it has many meanings.

As the vocalist said, Handlebars "is about the idea that we have so much incredible potential as human beings to be destructive or to be creative."

He shows the creativity and achievements of humans in the beginning, ('I can split the atoms of a molecule') and at the end, expresses the destruction and havoc humans can cause, ('I can end the planet in a holocaust').

At first, I did think of it being about the government but reading what the vocalist said about it, I think his explanation does seem more likely.

I really like the Flobots! I've never really known the meaning behind this particular song but I know they are very pro-environment and blame the government for not doing enough. If you listen to " Stand up" or any or song, you get more of understanding of what they are trying to say, they mention events such as the holocaust and the bombings in Iraq and how they are very anti-war and blame people.

    This. ^

In the video itself, it's just about two friends/brothers that leave each other, and go onto leading two completely different lives. One nice and creative, the other dominating and destructive.

But it generally represents a bigger picture I suppose.
i'm out of touch, i'm out of love
i'll pick you up when you're getting down
and out of all these things i've done
i think i love you better now
