Basically these two posts sum-up the whole thread:

From Mexico to Britain then from Britain to California is roughly 10,200 miles - why did he travel all that when he could have just stayed in Mexico for an extra few days (probably for a cheaper price than all the flights too), and just fly or drive to California from Mexico?
Absolute waste of money, no doubt paid by us, not to mention the pollution his travelling air-planes would have been pumping out and he's supposed to be our Energy Secretary.
THAT'S why people are calling him a hypocrite and that's why he has done wrong.

But LA and San Fran are such lovely places to visit, much better than some of the tat in this country.

Setting an example and all that.
Sorry this is way over the top and totally nonsensical. Wouldn't prohibiting him to fly be against his 'civil liberties' he is not stopping you flying! This is one of the weakest threads I think you have ever posted.

He is charging me more to fly though, something he can very easily afford no matter how many green taxes he puts on flying in the name of saving the planet. I must ask what is so hard to understand about this, that if Mr Huhne believes the planet is in such grave danger - why is he contributing to it?

It is a bit dodgy You'd think someone who supports hiking up tax on air travel would follow the idea that "British hollidays" are holidays we all should be taking, considering the two are usually seen together when air taxes are mentioned (British hols & air taxes). I can see why people see him as a hypocrite for jetting off, especially to California which will rack up his air miles. Even though we can't expect him stay in the UK all the time, to act like this immediately after a climate change summit is a poor move when it's inevitable that people will notice he's jetting off and these claims will come forward. A poor move on his behalf
