Default Server map corruption ~ What should we do?

So, the server was saving the map when it crashed and for some reason our backup plugin failed.

Pick a chunk, set a warp there or something
Then everyone go there set up some chests, place all your stuff in the chests.
Save that one chunk, and use that in a brand new map.

Keep are stuff, get rid of the uglyness.

Although it would mean we would have to wait until everyone had done this "/

I voted backing up inventories. But stitching the map back together sounds good.

The problem with those two is, finding someone who can work a map editor to stitch chunks.

surely it wont be that hard, finding one chunk would be easy compared to fixing the current map, then copy and past that chunk data into a map editor, then save it and loads it up to the server, the rest of the amp will then be generated when we log on and move outwards.

I have like 28 diamonds, shed loads of coal and redstone, and a decent amount of iron and gold, to lose that would take the piss.

You'd get over it after a day or two...

I'd be gutted to lose my diamond tools, gold, iron, redstone, sulphur, netherack etcetc but if you give people the same stuff, the same crap is gonna be made. We need to start completely fresh, 'cause now we've got the ideas, we just need the canvas to draw on. imo.

Ok, we're restoring to last night and keeping today's inventories, so go put anything you want in your inventory.
