Your forgetting people have exams and school at these times, but thanks for your concern.
HxHD Will return to normal in due time
Not really the need for mass amounts of staff at the time.

forever the queen.
They seem to trickle in after school, but usually, once it's active, it stays active for a long time.
r.i.p.
Whenever I go in there during peak times there are usually a fair few in there, except for if there's an event on. However, it does seem to be the same people in there every night and it would be nice if a few ideas were thought up to get new users into the room such as events like the SNQ etc.![]()

forever the queen.
As many have said this is due to most of the staff posting away because of exams, most of the staff will be back next weekThe last 4-5 times I have gone to go into HxHD over the last 2 days it has been empty. Obviously I don't expect anyone to be in it at this time because of school/college etc. But I was just wondering why it doesn't get as many people visiting it any more.
Most of the time there is none or a lack of staff in there to.
We are going to be trying out new ideas to try to make the help desk more popular. some of these ideas include events and maybe even quizzes! But we can't say to much at the moment.
When applications open we will hopefully be hiring more international staff to be in the desk while UK, USA ( for example) staff are at school.

This is a good post.Joy of joys.. another HxHD Feedback thread where everyone will agree in order to bash the department. As for me,
I couldn't disagree more.
HxHD has drastically improved in the past 6 months. Previously, it was struggling to get busy (in terms of staff and visitors) in the evenings, yet now.. there's always people in there talking. The HxHD Quizes make the room reach it's capacity, as does the Takeover held by the forum. I have noticed a consistent activity in staff lately, along with a consistent amount of visitors; new and old.
I think it's rather irrational to suggest that the whole of HxHD is "dying" because it's not busy at 2pm on a weekday..
So yeah, as someone who sits in HxHD most nights, I don't really think it's a cause for concern
This is also a good post.At this current point in time, there are many staff away due to schooling commitments. It's quite an important time for most of us and focusing on the helpdesk just isn't something that receives priority over school. Uk people are all revising and preparing for exams while people in Australia have only just started school again. I think that saying the helpdesk is dying at such a critical time is just shallow.
Even David (HotelUser) is on limited activity right now due to exams and there isn't much you can do about that.
Edit: Also, I'm not defending HxHD because I have a position there either.

HxHD isn't suffering that much at the moment and over the Christmas period I don't think anyone can fault HxHD - it was full nearly 24 hours a day however it worries me that people are comparing HxHD now to HxHD over Christmas when people had much less commitments elsewhere. Usually in peak time it's got quite a few people in it, I went to bed at 3am last night and it was quite busy at that time too.

HxHD in my opinion in terms of activity has improved a lot since it was months ago. I see more people in there and there is sometimes more people coming in asking for help then there used to be. I think also staff activity has also improved there is mostly always staff there behind the desk ready to help.
I agree that there seems to be much less staff in there than usual, however as people have pointed out other priorities have taken over and since it's only a temporary thing i suppose we can't complain much.
During the xmas period the helpdesk was far more often used and crowded than usual. It's just a small after holiday slump, things will pick up again in due course i'm sure![]()
Bonjour, la noirceur, mon vieil ami
Je suis venu te reparler
Car une vision piétinante doucement
A laissé ses graines lorsque je dormais
Et la vision
Qui était plantée dans mon cerveau
Demeure toujours
Parmi le son du silence
Personally having always been very critical of HxHD, I think it's gotten a lot better with visitors recently. Maybe staff could be improved. But I think it's being run well atm imo.![]()
One for the road.
