i love this reply. what i also love is how people moan for material goods. some post about 2 or 3 up from mines complaining how they should have better clothes. how shallow is this forum? 'opportunities in life' mean building up self-worth by advancing from level to level in employment or other forms of work. be grateful you actually have a roof over your head, clothes on your back and ooh don't forget the expensive iphones or blackberrys mummy and daddy bought you. because i'd love to see your reaction if you were in a real place where the only opportunites there are is a life of poverty and repression.

Guess this is aimed at my post too aha, I know I am extremely shallow in how I wish I was and things, but the luxuries I own I buy myself from money I have earned. If my parents bought all my clothes I'd be wearing the same clothes I had 3 years ago and it'd be from the cheapest places possible and have no real style/value.
My plan in life is to work really hard at my job and to continue my training so I can get the best possible job for me and thus have the best pay. Plus this thread is just for people to post what they wish rly/where they wish they were and things lol

I'm not ego-inflated, I just don't like my school because it's full of chavy idiots and I don't like it
Guess it's my fault really though lol -I had like 5 choices and I just had to pick the worse, didn't I?;LL

I think everyone gets fed up of their surroundings at some time or another but we could be living in a far worse place than the UK such as Dafur, Rwanda etc., etc. Not saying that if someone feels they would be happier in another counry they shouldn't go for it but honesly compared to a large portion of the world we should be counting our blessings, really. Having the drive to 'better yourself' is a good thing though. Some are encouraged to do so and some do it 'in spite' of their circumstances which is something to be admired.

One of the best for standards of living? Actually, in '09 and '10 we had the worst quality of life in Europe.

And in response to Cocaine; just because there ARE worse places to live doesn't mean I should have to put up with some of the ******** here. Britain is a far less desirable place to live than a LOT of countries around the world to me.

I've known for a while that I want to leave the UK. The political system is broken and will never change, the public are stupid, don't question what they are told and bury their heads in the sand, we are over taxed, our culture is swept aside by immigrants (christmas lights/cards taken down because muslims were offended?!), we are lied to be politicians, scientists and especially the media. Anything to sell more newspapers. America is even worse, I would NEVER even consider living anywhere there - with the exception of visiting a few states.

You just have to look at the state of public health and how people STILL somehow believe propaganda like the food pyramid or the eatwell plate, or the fact that the eatwell plate is so bad.

I actually couldn't agree more with you. UK also has the lowest level of social mobility in Europe so why on earth are people still saying there are opportunities out there for us? there are so many obstacles to get over first no matter how hard you work. America (finally, someone who doesn't believe USA is the bees knees) also has one of the lowest levels in the whole of the western world so why anyone thinks they'll have a better life there is beyond me.
I actually don't mind immigrants at all. I would rather have those that do good than the scum we already have living here, although idk why they bother coming here because we have nothing to offer. Of course we are lied to. We are lied to by everyone so that they can make profit. If people weren't so brainwashed then maybe we wouldn't be a dying nation. No-one ever agrees with me but all we have is our history which means nothing anymore, this is our history now and it's not something to be proud of. & i feel the exact same about public health, it's just the fact that the government allows all these chemicals/artificial stuff in pretty much every product/food/packaging/medicine we have whereas in a lot of countries they're banned because of the danger. SOZ MEGA CHEMICALPHOBE don't judge k

but idk my point wasn't to say i want everthing handed to me or that i want money, i've never had that nor do i expect it. if i ever do achieve any of it it'll be given to my mum fyi to anyone who thinks i'm being selfish or greedy. i just don't like the uk system compared to a lot of others, that's all..

do you even know why we're over-taxed? because of the after effects of the recession (it started in america remember, not britain), our budget deficit now is nearing the high levels in % of GDP. think about what would happen if britains politicans decided they were to take a new friendly approach to governing - our deficit would extensively widen, as a result the pounds gonna be less competitive. because the pound is worth less, our imports are more expensive and the majority of goods being made in china, will be more expensive. the cost of living will increase and less investments going to be put in from abroad because the UK will seem less and less attractive, so we're left with outdated technology and inevitably countries will surpass us. the whole point of high taxation is to tackle the budget deficit, so when you're actually moaning about 'oh no we're overtaxed', its for the benefit of the country as a whole in order to sustain a recovery, and wait for it heres my main point, bring the uk BACK UP to the levels of standard of living once enjoyed.

what? how can you say social mobility in the UK/USA is low when we have immigrants coming in. entrepreneurial (spellings wrong probs) immigrants who set up successful business in the UK can far surpass their potential than if they stayed in their home country. and how can you say the UK has nothing to offer? are you aware of how many foreign students come to england to study for their degrees (particularly in medicine) and then go on to achieve post-graduate degrees, before repaying their debt by working for the NHS/private clinics to benefit the public?
