    Default Habbox User System

Not sure how recently it has been like this, but I just checked out Habbox now it is out of its BETA stage, and was impressed to see 20 users logged in - for the first month or whatever it was, it always seemed to have 7 users or so maximum. Nice to see people are signing up to the main site as well as the forum.

I like how the competition for 20 credits is obvious to everyone, including those who are not logged in. I assume this has helped, as people will create accounts for the chance to win. A really cool idea, well done to whoever came up with that.

Yeah, I think the competition has certainly helped to boost sign ups. I also noticed yesterday that a lot more people were online, and this looks really good and is something we obviously still want to increase.

More interactive content on the site can be done when there are more active members with accounts signed up etc, and I think it will also be nice when we start to see more people commenting on the News articles etc, and making use of features like that.

I would like to think sign ups will continue to increase as more content is released and we can get an active community attracted to the site too.

Definitely. Competitions are always good ways to get people to sign up, and the way it allows you to try to enter it and then says you need to sign up, obviously is going to make people sign up once they realise what they can get. Perhaps when HxSS comes around, people could win points for their chosen team on Habbox.com too? Or you could 'bank' in your points on Habbox with the chance of doubling however many points you originally won?

I think it's a shame they didn't integrate it with the forum database, they could have done so much more cool stuff with it

You guys are forgetting something here. Much more habbox staff now have to sign into the site to do their work as opposed to before. These extra users are probably just staff doing their jobs.

For example RV used to do pretty much everything via the forums. Now all staff have to use the main site.

Edit: Not sure if your talking about the site in general or just since the new system came out, if it's just since the new system came out nvm this post.

Plans are to integrate with the forum database but the user systems will remain apart. This will allow us to share data between both sites for new features.

You can tell who's online by selecting the "Who's online" widget, green or red names are staff. Usually there's more users online than staff which is good

Ah, well then that is a good thing. I agree with Recursion that it would be nice to have them both intergrated.

Why keep the user accounts separate though Jin? Is it something to do with security? Wouldn't it be much easier if a forum member could just log onto the site if they wanted to comment on a news article or something rather than having to register a new account.

I know there are a few reasons, but the easiest one to explain is as the site is purely Habbo based, you have to have a Habbo in order to register and your name on the site must be the same as your Habbo name etc to be able to use all the cool Habbo features we have. Obviously on HabboxForum we allow members to have whatever names they please, this wouldnt go well if we intergrated the user systems completely.

I didn't forget this, however I am certain there were very few staff members logged in at the time most of them were what would be considered "nooby" names, so I assume people signed up to enter the competitions etc - perhaps when you sign up a notication comes up telling people what they can do now they are signed up?
