Lol. Virus removing isn't really a skill. If you can't remove a virus you're gonna be pretty bad at computers in general. Anyway this post, and the previous 3 didn't contribute to the discussion so it's probably better we stop it now

I can't believe people are defending the idea that a reinstall is not necessary! Like jewbear said there could be a keylogger or something else malicious that you weren't even aware of and before you know it BAM you have one less full bank account. Formatting is the only option tbh

Virus removal is not a skill, if a computer has a virus in school we just reimage it, doesn't take long and thanks to our server their documents are all saved (and scanned).

What I usually do is find out the virus name, google the virus name, find out what virus definition sites have to say about it & then proceed to find removal instructions. Also find out what registry files it makes, & run both Spybot S&D (as well as immunisation tool), Malwarebytes & ESET NOD32 (tis what i use k) and see what comes up. Also scan your USB drives if you have any as it's a good place of finding them. No need to reinstall your OS tbh, but lolworthy that people tried to make you do that.

oh and NEVER do a system restore if you've got a virus, virus developers aren't stupid and they will either delete your system restore points upon infection OR infiltrate them so you're only rolling back to a restore with the virus still there.

Why must you call me out on this! this thread was like a year and a half ago I have improved very much since then!

However a week ago it turned out it wasnt a virus, i cleaned all the dust off the heatsink and it works perfectly now
