I think it's Hakuoro's backstory and the whole God theme that makes it very impressive. Plus the fact that throughout the series Hakuoro starts his own empire from scratch and totally owns everyone. Plus the world it's set in is so frickin' amazing and the characters are all a very colourful, charismatic bunch. Everything about the series is just so damn good. I loved the backgrounds as well, usually I take very little notice in the sets and stuff like that in anime but in Utawarerumono they were all hand painted. GOD. The series is so good.

Oh and I was drawing just the other day. I seem to have gotten back into it.

Oh my god, just watched the first episode of Death Note, it was brilliant! Ryuk is such a sinister creature. Can't wait to watch the next episode, so glad I decided to watch it, cheers guys for suggesting Death note.

Death Note seems to have that rare power able to grab anyone. I remember there were a few who shunned anime on here back in the day, but some gave Death Note a try and were completely sucked in. If you think it's good now, just wait until later. I don't think I'll ever seen a better psychological mind battle in a film, series or anything, anime or otherwise. The twists and turns in the story are also frickin' genius and the characters are so intriguing. I could go on about it all day!

Are you watching it in Japanese with subtitles or English dubbed, by the way?

Most English dubs are barely watchable if you actually care about the quality of a series, but the Death Note dub is okay. It is one million times better in Japanese though. The last episode has some of the most intense and impressive voice acting I have ever witnessed.

I can't wait for the last episode now haha.
I'm halfway through episode 2, just paused it to post here, it's the part where L has been introduced. The story is getting really interesting now, I'm guessing that L is someone who has a death note, or has had one before

L is the expert genius detective, known for only taking cases that interest him. He assigns himself the Kira case and is Light's biggest rival. I will say no more, however. By about episode eight you should be sucked in and everything will be clear to you.

    ah I see.

I just finished watching episode two, L is a genius, that twist was shocking. I knew that the man on TV wouldn't of been L but how he executed the plan was impressive. How many times have you watched the series?

I've seen it all the way through four times, but have watched some specific episodes even more. I've also read the manga and have watched the anime specials as well as the Japanese live-action movies. It's my second favourite anime series and easily the one I have seen the most. Just gotta love Death Note.

    Agreeeeeeeed.

And dont worry, i covered all that when suggesting it to him. Made it clear that most dubs were not to be gone near.
