    Default Driver Problem

I have a cheap TV tuner, unknown manufacturer.

It's worked fine for years but suddenly the driver for it has been playing up. I've reinstalled it several times, even from different disks.

When installed the driver stops windows from shutting down, it hangs on the shutting down message.
It also causes Windows Media Center to freeze whenever I go into any of the TV settings.

    Any ideas?

Dead card maybe? I'd recommend Hauppauge cards if you do decide to get a new one.

It can't be the hardware, the driver is screwing up even when it isn't plugged in.

Wish I could was already too late when it started happening. I've been doing a lot of installing recently - just formatted under a month ago.

Is there no way in device manager you can find out the manufacturer.

Maybe try Device Doctor - http://www.devicedoctor.com/ might find an update for the driver which could fix the problem or at least give you more information e.g. make.
