    Thumbs down Back Ache

Hey everyone, I don't post in here often but I've been having terrible back ache all day. I like to keep my problems quiet but it's getting quite bad now. I can't really sit down/lie down without it aching. I did do my weights today, along with a handstand pushup. So I reckon I must have hurt it then, but that's nothing new as aches and pains come with the workout

This one is quite bad though, any ideas how to improve my situation. I just feel like i want to stretch and crack my back or feel like stretching will make it feel better, but it never does.

    Thanks, Zak

Are you over-doing yourself with the weights etc? You could be putting strain on your back, and you DON'T want to do that!

This. Make sure you don't over do it with the weights as this might be causing strain and thus resulting in back pain.

Lay off heavy work outs for a while until your back feels better, if you keeping getting the same pain you should go and visit your doctor in case you really hurt yourself.

A nice bath always does wonders for aches and stiffness.

Stop doing silly over-dramatic weight exercises like handstand push-ups (Honestly what the hell is that?) and go back to squats and press ups.

Take a break from weightlifting, it doesn't improve your core as much as press ups and squats. It's good to build some muscle, but you don't want to end up being stupidly bulky do you? I stopped pushing waits when I could do 30 pull ups, now that's all I do along with press ups and squats.

It would most probably be a bruised muscle. If that were the case, you would have to stay calm until it gets better. Sad part is, it can take weeks. or sometimes it can take a few days.

Bad form = mechanical stress where you don't want it.

Keep your back straight/tensed, abs tensed and don't perform wild movements when lifting weights. Also, you should rest a couple of days at least to let your back recover (if you don't you will make it worse or even long-term).

Thanks for the helpful replies from most. +rep to the best

My multi-gym has arrived so this will hopefully stop my bad technique that I admittedly have!
