MIND does seem like quite a good charity, and has a more direct response similar to what we see with Macmillan nurses, so I think I'll for MIND

I'm 100% for Mind, there is not nearly enough awareness about the realities of mental health problems and a massive amount of sufferers go on alone because society makes them feel wrong for admitting their problems to anyone. Especially in light of the situation with Xarea this week I believe their work is extremely important and can not only save lives for those most drastically affected but also provide help and support for those who aren't suicidal but feel unable to live a "normal" life due to their (often undiagnosed and completely misunderstood) condition.

Although maybe for a change we should give all the money to the British Film Institute (Yes, they are a registered charity) so they can continue releasing rare films for me to buy.

It's been in the news alot recentley that many childrens heart clinics around the country are being closed due to cut backs from the government, meaning many parents will have to travel over 100 miles to get specialist heart treatment for their child, which could mean a life or death situation if in an emergency.

Many charties like the british heart foundation etc get alot of donations, but they arn't specific on the needs of children. Children are obviously a lot smaller than adults and so need different treatment from adults. Most of the time a child is born with this heart defect and certain treatments could mean they could live a long and normal life. I have never heard of the 'Children's Heart Foundation' but it maybe a charity we could support this year:

But yes, i agree with supporting the smaller charities. Larger charities get a hell of alot of money and alot of this money gets wasted on huge advertising campagins to keep the charity in the public eye to continue to recieve high amounts of donations, kinda catch 22 situation. Smaller charities get overlooked and small donations will make a larger difference to those, rather than the millions that gets donated to the larger ones every year.

Yes we all want to end cancer but it would be very naive to think that our couple of hundred pound would cure that, cancer research gets huge amounts of donations every year, ours would make little difference. Whereas if we give to a small charity, like the water one, we could make a huge difference.

Hi. I'm not sure if you all heard of UNICEF before but I would go for UNICEF because children are very important for the country and they need to be protected. Other than that, UNICEF is more towards international fundraising and I would post the UK link below here. Charity is good and I would not say other charity organizations are not good. However, do check it out please.
