It would be nice to just do away with formality and let people post as they please, but it would only be a matter of time before moderators revert back to their old ways and the line between pointless and not is yet again distorted.

Nice to see such an elaborate response..

I don't see the problem in giving it a trial as Rosie suggested. You cannot dispute the fact that it would significantly increase posting...

Not necessarily. The reason the spam Habbox Staff forum was taken away was precisely because it didn't increase posting at all. It meant everyone just used the spam forum because it's often more laidback in spam forums. Therefore gommeinc is right that we should not be adding laidback spam forums, we should be making the forum itself more laidback and allowing people to post threads like the example in the Habbo in general forum... or encouraging people to just stick two fingers up at those in the spam forum who, instead of just ignoring the "unfunny Habbo spam" threads, post abuse instead. Much easier to do the former though.

Well I think it might be worth a trial. Nobody really can predict what would happen as nobody has ever done it. If it does go to a trial then if members don't use it there is the answer. It is a fact that the original 'spamsters' are not keen on Habbo spam so it could be a win win.

Ah yeah, but "What colour are your curtains" type threads increase posting - would still prefer less threads than those though

Besides, if the thread really is that useless that not many people will discuss the signature - then surely it will just rot in the Habbo In General forum anyway? It wouldn't make much difference, except the Habbo stuff is kept in the Habbo area - better that than a Habbo Spam forum

Why does Habbox need at least 5 Spam forums? It's attempting to solve a problem that shouldn't exist, and do we really want the forum index to look God awful again?

The reason that Habbox staff spam was discontinued was because the majority were just using this and not posting in the main forum - I would suggest that is an indication it would work. They don't have to be forums they could just be stickied spam threads in the popular forums. Habbo spam maybe unfunny to some people but you have to remember that we have a lot of younger users who probably do find it funny and it's not a useless thread to them. I would not like to see the 'pointless rule' discontinued outside of spam - it would be mayhem. Gomme, we are discussing this because a member would like it. I would suggest a stickied thread in Habbo in General for spam. As far as I know you do not use the Habbo forums. x

If you have stickied spam threads, you may as well remove post count? Or give post count for posts in spam?

You have just found a flaw in my suggestion. Is it possible to remove post count from a thread?

How? Posts won't be counted so it's hopeless. There's no point putting it on trial because it would look incredibly untidy on the main forums (again). Just let people post relevant topics, which this one was, in the relevant forums (wow, common sense :/). I don't see why people assume uninteresting threads like this one are pointless. Uninteresting threads sink to the bottom of forums and disappear, while "pointless" (or irrelevant, as is the case) are ones that people enjoy but do not have a specific topic of discussion therefore leading to spontaneous discussions.

Just do away with formalities and tell the moderators to read a dictionary and grow some common sense, so formalities can be done away with so this fansite actually acts like a fansite and not some flailing corporate organisation which piggy backs needless systems and panders to bureaucracy until the cows come home.

Wouldn't work. Spam comes in different flavours, therefore people will want to create their own threads to give their idea some thought and discussion. People will read a spam thread at different pages and therefore post replies to something that happened ages ago. It will be a complete mess.

Wait guys I have an idea that might work? Since the majority of spam that is not just chit chat (eg the standard content of our spam forum) is habbo, why not create a sub forum in the spam section for Habbo spam only? Or even stick it as a sub forum in Habbo in General. Realistically the only section that warrants a spam section is the habbo section - as it is a 'no go' topic in Spam really, and most older members who post in spam do not want to see screen shots of "uber funny things" which aren't funny, but at the same time people may want to post it - without being flamed.

So I think the Habbo section could warrant a spam section, but the other forums don't really warrant it imo - especially the tech forum. God knows what we would post in there as spam lol

Well I think you are being somewhat negative here - there have been very successful and very long spam threads at Habbox and there is always the spam section amyway.
