Fair points, but I have a phone upgrade anyway!I honestly thought this at first but in all honestly it's a phone. What are we going to need that chip for? The apps are all still going to work on both versions of the phone. We have iPad's/PC's to do the other high demand stuff for us. I just can't justify splashing all that cash on a new phone for an upgraded processor. Not for them to release a new phone in June/July anyway haha.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
I was just reading about that Cards app and it seems like a really nice featureI think Siri is being un-rated in this thread a bit, it's quite a bit more than voice recognition which Android has had (And the iPhone has had previously), it analyses what you say for organisation, queries etc. If I remember correctly the Android voice recognition can only be used to fill in forms / basic commands using specific words (From what I can tell Siri will support non-specific terms to perform actions).
Also, we can send cards... from our iphones... this is so cool.. Although I believe it'll be an App for all devices using iOS 5 rather than just the iPhone 4S.
As for Siri, I agree that it's certainly more than just the voice recognition already on the iPhone/Android. I remember trying to use Voice Commands on my iPod Touch and I'd have to say something a few times before it would work; but Siri seems to be much better and also seems as though it's a lot more 'intelligent' and can do a lot more and definitely an improvement from the Voice Commands of iOS 4.
With Siri though, the beta is only for iPhone 4S but I hope when it's out of Beta, it'll also be for iPad 2; particularly as they have the same dual core processor.
Yeah, if you have a phone upgrade then definitely do it. I would if that was the case for me but I specifically didn't get a phone contract because I always upgraded to the newer phone as and when it was released I just simply swapped my sim only contract over to the newer phone. I am hoping for a fast release of the iPhone 5 or whatever they're going to call it next year, hopefully in the first quarter because I really do love the product :-)
Is that not an accusation that is still avoiding the central premise of my argument? I do not like Apple, that's obvious -but this event clearly isn't anything interesting or amazing, and there's nothing innovative which is what I stated and asked for originallyI'm not making myself angry, more just pointing out that your opinions or accusations against Apple are heavily biased around the fact that you simply just dislike Apple. I personally think you let this cloud your judgement completely - I think they could have released anything and you would have been quick to criticize it. I have noticed this as a common pattern with Apple threads and yourselfBesides, you're one to talk. You got caught up in one small, unconfirmed detail with the GUI of Windows 8 a few months ago, at least this conference is about features that are actually coming out and confirmed
And I don't criticise everything Apple does - someone a few weeks ago asked if getting an Apple TV would solve their streaming problems and I suggested that there must be something iTunes, Apple or a third party company can create to stream music from iTunes to an iPhone/iPod Touch
Speaking of Siri. I could of sworn Ford were working on a voice recognition device that can interpret commands in many different ways. I think Microsoft were getting involved but could be wrong.

What about when they released the 3GS after the 3GIv'e owned every iPhone ever released and I will not be upgrading my current iPhone 4. I can't express my disappointment enough with the release of the newer model today. To me personally it just seems as if they've pulled this one out of the bag to continue with their 'New iPhone a year' release. Personally I think if they could have got away with it they would have not released a newer model this year and they would have just released the probably under development iPhone 5 (or whatever they're going to call it) sometime next year but because of all the apple fan boys wanting a new phone this year they have gone ahead and met demand. A lot of my friends who have iPhone's as well have also told me they're not going to bother with an upgrade.?
I know what you're saying, but there is more to it than just an upgraded processor. And not everything that works on the iPhone 4S will work on the iPhone 4. Eg, I've seen apps reviews for an iPad app with people complaining it's slow on the iPad, yet those using an iPad 2 say it works fine. And you won't be able to use Siri on the iPhone 4 if that's something which appealed to youI honestly thought this at first but in all honestly it's a phone. What are we going to need that chip for? Too true too true, but I would have used my death to BlackBerry thread instead - I plan on buying a Windows 8 tablet, I just extremely so think that startbutton is, wellIs that not an accusation that is still avoiding the central premise of my argument? The 3G's offered more features though which were useful to me at the time. Siri really does appeal to me and I am a bit gutted that it won't be sent to iPhone 4 users. But again that's just a software limitation they have implemented to enable them to use it as one of their main selling points for the upgrade to the 4S. On another note, I can't see it being as good as they say. I feel stupid asking my iPhone what time it is and asking it to call a certain contact in my phone book at the moment. And that's when the thing hears me, cars and background noise make the poor woman confused and it has called unsuspecting people hundreds and hundreds of times. God help it when you're asking it to reply to someone's text message, I dread to think what it may think you're asking it to reply with in a noisy or busy location hahaWhat about when they released the 3GS after the 3G?
