    Default Password Expiration

I think it's happened since I've began using HabboxForum, every 365 days I'm informed I have to change my password and it always annoy me. This year I have decided to act by creating this thread.

It is completely unnecessary and does not make you anymore secure what-so-ever to change your password every so often. Unless you feel it's going to be compromised, there is not a need to change a password for "security reasons". It's out-dated security advice (No other websites or computers do it these days) that changing your password some how makes you more secure and above all, an annoyance. I almost couldn't be bothered this year seeing as I make a new password each year, fill it in auto-complete and forget it, so I have to go through the Lost password process.

Can password expiration be removed please?

Actually my school implemented an every three month rule fairly recently. I would tell them where to shove it but some people probably wouldn't realise if their account had been compromised.

    Same applies here.

Colleges and Schools aren't exactly leading the way when it comes to technology lets be honest, lots of them are still running very old systems.

Look at the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google Accounts, Apple accounts, Hotmail accounts, they don't do such a thing as it is useless.

No, people (Facebook I think?) won't allow you to use an old password a second time for example.

I totally disagree with this thread, being forced to change passwords is a good thing and is something I have implemented at work. Every 6 months users have to change their password and it must include numbers and upper/lower case. Ideally it should have punctuation too but oh well.

I'd get used to it, when you go into the world of work you'll have to change your password every so often and you'll be forced to make it complex (i.e. with punctuation etc). In fact, your username may well end up being as obscure as your password!

Off topic, your perception of schools is way off, I know plenty of schools that are running the latest Server/Workstation OSs with very new technology

my college does this too every 2 months and I haven't changed it once. I don't ever recall having to do it here. It's only once a year though, surely you could just do your current password but add an extra number or letter??

Changing it once a year isn't so bad, college make us do ours every like month or something stupid like that so I've already forgotten what mine is even though I just do variations of the same thing every time
