A new major Apple product. Not necessarily an iPhone 5, but maybe a second iPad or something unique. Didn't happen probably due to Job's health deterioration and eventual death
More in-depth information on Windows 8, not released. Early dev builds,
HTC gaining a much larger market share. Grew past Nokia and RIM
Several major/semi-major new HTC phone releases. There were a fair few of them..
Tablet PCs becoming more popular, then dying somewhat later on in the year. Lot's of buzz around CES but still no real competitor to the iPad
Android getting more commonly used, major updates will also be avaliable. Android's share has grown and grown
Internet Explorer dying even more. IE6 is down to 8.6% and the others are also dropping
A big increase in Chromium-runned browsers. Mostly just Chrome
1TB hard drives will easily become the norm, with 4TB hard drives onwards becoming more known. Was looking this way until the unfortunate flooding
A heavy increase in internet speeds/availability throughout the UK. BT infinity more widespread, Virgin deploying 100mbit to almost every major city
Hotspots available throughout (due to BT Openzone etc.). Not quite yet, but certainly going to be in london
Possibility of 4G coverage throughout the UK ~ if so, then various starter products using the 4G may become available. Not yet, but 02 has started trialing LTE in london
Firefox slowly loses market share, whereas Chrome, Safari and Opera boost ahead. Except Opera.. who we should still boycott
8 or more Core processors released, or at least, high development towards 6-cores. Sandy bridge E will have six cores.
3D TVs hyped up for the first few months, only to fall back again towards Q3/4. This has happened a lot, they haven't reached the price point yet
Renewable energy development to increase dramatically, with many more prototypes being produced.
3D mobiles by HTC late 2011. HTC EVO 3D
Fifth generation iPod Touch and iPhone Not quite..

Second-gen iPad - higher res display, camera.
iOS 5 - faster speed increases, no compatibility for iPhone 3G/2nd gen touch, Ping integration
    Win 7 SP1
Most new netbooks running dual core Atoms Netbooks are dying in anticipation of more tablets
    More 3D TV's.
    More tablets.
More laptop development. Although the outset looks bleak
Touch TV's? (I'm on to something here tehe)
More HD channels, with the addition of some 3D. I believe Sky is doing some 3D

Mainstream Intel 6 core processors are coming out at the end of 2011. Spot-on
Bold are the ones which came true including related links. Italics are comments and strike-throughs just didn't happen. I may have gotten a couple wrong

I think I remember you posting this because I really did think that HMV would go bust after you mentioned it. Interesting stuff!
