Internal Hard Drive

Long story short, I am in need of a hard drive, and after failing to sort this challenge myself, thought I would ask the ever useful tech forum here..

I am putting (attempting) OSX on my pc, and would like to get a second hard drive for the purpose. However, as you all know Thailand flooding caused a massive scam where hard drive prices have gone through the roof due to a slight supply/demand problem. I have OSX ready, and now need a hard drive, but do not fancy paying huge amounts.

Does anyone know where if there is anywhere where hard drives are still a reasonable price, and are still decent drives?

Now more than every may be the time to invest in a solid state drive, the cost per GB is closest to HDD as it will be for several more years.

Failing that go for a low capacity drive now and replace it later.

Thanks, I have gone for an SSD haha. Went for:Corsair Force Series 3 (60GB). I need some brackets for it though, and am not sure what to get? MY case is this: http://www.ebuyer.com/165238-cm-stor...-sgc-2000-kkn1(CM Storm Scout Case). Any suggestions on what will fit well?

First I will try and put OSX on it, if that works I shall get a second for Windows, if it doesn't I will put Windows on the first.

I believe I have the right connectors but just wanted to check.. obviously I have the ones from the PSU, but am unsure if the red ones I have are correct? They are just those red, thin SATA cables - correct for SATA 3.0?

I didn't think you needed a new bracket for it? I thought you screwed it into a standard 3.5" drive bracket.

Turns out the case came with a bracket - just checking I actually have it in the box - either way I will need another if I get the second SSD.

Also, erm not sure what you mean? The drive is 2.5in and the bay is 3.5in?

SSD's are like 2.5"? And your case says it has this:

2.5" Drive Bay 1 Hidden (converted from one 3.5 inch Drive Bay)

So I'm not sure if you would need any converter or holder for it. If you do, it may of came with the case itself. To be honest, you may also get a bracket with the actual SSD.

No because most SSD's are smaller than 3.5" and they are normally in the 2.5" form factor. You can get some that are 3.5 but the majority of them do it in the smaller size.

No because SSD's are smaller than the standard 3.5" hard drive, if you have a bracket/holder/caddie/converter then you can place it inside a 3.5". Well you can get 3.5 SSDs but most of them are in the 2.5" form factor.

I couldn't find the extension/bracket - turns out it was in my 'box of stuff' from when I first made the PC That is sorted for the first one then, if I get a second (unless as you say, it may come with a bracket..) I will need to buy a bracket for it separately.

Oh and er just a quick check, I won't be raping my 650w too much, will I?

I don't know your current hardware but I doubt it and the 650w PSU will be fine.

No, I know they are 2.5" drives, but you can screw them into some brackets so that they arent filling the brackets but are secured in it, I saw a video on YouTube and it showed how to put it into your case and that's how he did it.

Yeah Andy, we realised that I actually have one bracket that came with the case, after looking in my 'box of stuff' - I may have a problem with the second one though, as they only supply one bracket.
