People who aren't rich? Well most people these days can't afford apple products. Obviously those who can't obviously aren't rich though.

I feel people buy apple products often to show they can afford it, it's like a fashion accessory and basically shows they are part of a group. People do prefer this - I mean if you buy an android phone you know that there are loads of other manufactures putting android on their phone but with Apple and it's OS there's only one phone with it on. People do like exclusivity.

I do feel a lot of people who buy apple products don't really know much about them due to the whole fashion icon thing. I feel a lot of people would just buy an iPhone because it is an iPhone without actually comparing the specs with another phone which basically puts it down to impulsive buying.

Someone actually told me once I was stupid for buying products on their specs and such over their design. I obviously don't want to buy ugly devices but I'd rather get one that can work with what I need it to. I feel maybe apple isn't that great at making products, well it is, but it is more good at marketing them. Me and a few people think iPads are stupid and you might as well buy a laptop yet a lot of people who hated it seemed to buy it once it came out. I feel they could release anything and people would go out to buy it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not an apple hater. I use both Microsoft, Apple and other manufactures stuff, I just wonder if people buying Apple products buy the product knowing what they are getting, want or simply buy it because it is apple.

[@]@peteyt[/@] I completely agree with you. Apple is a really powerful brand name, at least one person from every family in the country has an apple product.

This is quite a good point (I think now makes the count of good things you've said go up to 2 )

Google and Microsoft are software manufacturers. Software tends to not be renewed as often as physical, tangible goods like phones e.g. you do not pay for ICS, it's a free update the same as iOS <insert a number> to the current one. What's special about the iPhone is that it's OS is also created and maintained by its manufacturer, so unlike Apple and Microsoft, Apple control both the physical good and the virtual, intangible good.

Also, people can always afford an Apple product. You literally have to be on the bread line. I know more people who aren't super rich who own iPhones that people who can happily afford them.

I wouldn't say every family but most.

I find Apple products expensive. My problem with Apple products is that I can get the same but sometimes better. My Samsung Galaxy S2 might not be an iPhone but it does really anything an iPhone can, it looks quite good in my opinion, apps wise if there's something an iPhone has there's usually an android alternative.

I think the only downside is that due to the multiple different android phones sometimes certain apps don't work on certain phones although I've yet to find an app like this (probably because developers know s2's are one of the big popular ones and it would be a bad move to not making something work for it). However most apps seem to be getting stuff fixedregularly so they work on other stuff.

What I find rather interesting - iPhone 4S 1.0 GHZ Galaxy S2 1.2 GHZ - okay there isn't a lot of difference, but I told this to someone I know who works in a phone shop basically they had an android phone due to the fact it was cheaper butpreferrediPhones, said they where faster and hardly any issues. They then said that those specs where wrong and that the iPhone was like 2 GHZ or something - which it isn't.

My point is it seems that the iPhone is the most popular phone so people justpresumeit is the fastest, the highest specs, it's even meaning people who work with phones for a living believe that the phone has higher specs than it does.

I do admire Apple for that, they seem to have made a phone that even if it was really low spec compared to others probably would sell more, with the buyers thinking it was actually the highest spec phone

I don't really see the problem with buying because of a brand name? Its not really a bad thing to do so. I praise Apple for how they have created their image over the past few years. Especially because they have the advantage compared to like google that they can create a demand for their products. Even though google is growing.

It all depends what you look for in a product. If you prefer open sources, customabilty then google or microsoft is great.

But I myself prefer the fact Apple creates hardware and software and that all of their products integrate together,

My point is though you should buy products for what they are and not the brand. Obviously people are going to have favourites but a lot of people seem to just buy Apple and other products because of the name without actually knowing the full details - there's phones that are faster than an iPhone but a lot of people don't realise this because they justpresumethe iPhone is top and so buy that.

Not only can you but you SHOULD compare them in terms of software. iOS, OS X and a handful of other Apple creations (hi webkit) are smugly competitive with what Microsoft and Google pushes out.

Yep, fair enough with those products, but in terms of Sales, income etc, don't compare the different companies.

Apple is growing very well. I'm sure there will be an impressive celebration for iPhone 5.
