IMPORTANT FANSITE UPDATE - Amended Fansite Criteria

Fansites,

I wanted to first and foremost thank you for all the enthusiasm on the Fansite project so far! I have looked through hundreds of sites and we are constantly updating our mailing list.

While we're excited to see that there is a lot of excellent Fansites out there, we have unfortunately also uncovered some that are of very poor quality. It might seem as though some have set up fake Fansites only to achieve the in-game badge, but with no intention of updating them with news.

So as you can probably appreciate, we have a few things to organize and work through before we can grant the promised in-game badge and VIP Club membership to Fansite owners. The first thing on our agenda is an audit (check) of all the Fansites on our list.

Fansite Audit
We will be carrying out site checks immediately on all of the sites on our mailing list. Following this, we will run a new audit every 3 months.

Because there is such a varying level of quality between the Fansites, we decided on a list of criteria that will help us determine whether your site is qualifies to remain on the mailing list. See below:

Fansite Criteria:
• Must regularly publish Habbo related news to fans
• Must not publish news unrelated to the Habbo product
• Must contain no dead links
• Must contain inbound links to the Habbo site (Idea: from on the Fansite badge supplied by us?)
• Radio sites are required to branch out and contain news headers and links (relating to our Habbo updates).
• No templated domain names (blogs templates) .tumblr, .wordpress, .altervista, .tk, .blogger etc. Please use a clean domain name.
• Optional: Sites must contain links to Habbo's Facebook and Twitter channels.

Note: Habbo has the final say on what sites remain on the mailing list

When the final list is approved by us, we will hand out the in-game badges, the promised VIP Club membership - this will take a few weeks.

Some fansites aren't happy by the looks of it!

Hardly surprising, but I don't blame Sulake for excluding fansites who don't post Habbo news - the fansite is practically useless without it. A site like, I believe it's ClubHabbo? (the fansite that went to a forum) shouldn't really be considered a fansite if it only provides a forum.

Last time I checked (Feb. time) 3 or 4 of the previous official fansites (before that status was axed) didn't even post news at all.

I don't agree that only Habbo news should be posted, if I wanted to bring back new topics in news in the future does that mean I can't? People want to know more than just Habbo news. I don't mean the sort of news that could be in the current affairs either.

Finally, they are cleaning it up. So this VIP Membership, does it go to matt or what im confused by why they are even giving it out for.
