I've not been on Habbo or on here for a while, but I'm really appalled, but not particularly surprised, about what's gone on. I heard that it was on the news last night and saw it trending on Twitter and I felt quite mournful. It would be a shame if Habbo ended up closing down, but when I compare the safety measures when I last regularly used it, where you couldn't get a moderator for love nor money to those when I first joined (I remember wondering why my chat came up as saying "this room needs a bobba of paint") and there being mods and Hobbas left, right and centre, and I was forever getting two hour bans, I completely get it.
It's been obvious since the merge that they've been trying to cut costs and increase margins - but moderation is an area that should not be touched. Although there is now only, for example, one English speaking hotel, there is still (in theory) the same number of users and therefore there should be the same number of moderators. Even if it would have been costly, it wouldn't have been as costly as this mess.
I'm wondering if this is the beginning of the end.
