I think I'll keep my nice shiny inventory so that I don't need to scroll through hundreds of pages just to find the one piece of furni I want to trade. Honestly, some of these people need to stop living in the past and realise we've moved forward; moreso they need to accept that the new systems are actually better. We all like nostalgia, but that's exactly what it is, nostalgia.
Hobbas could easily return and be changed so there isn't any flaws like there was last time. I agree with you on the hand though

Hobbas could return, yes, but it would have to be a far superior system to the previous one. Each person applying would have to be vetted for a start, and that isn't cheap. Without professional vetting, what's to prevent a paedophile from becoming a Hobba and grooming a youngster from a position of power? This would make them more dangerous than regular users of the site, as they would be in a position of trust with the users. Then there's the problem of Hobbas abusing their power to ban Habbos who they simply take a dislike to. I'm sure there's many more problems on top which i haven't even thought of. I really don't think it's something they will bother with; as Paul has previously tweeted, it's simply a system with too many flaws. It's easier just to hire professional moderators (although they need to be professional and good at their job, which clearly they haven't been up until now) and train them up.

    EDIT:

    An interesting tweet here:

@PaulLaFo Why the players over the age of Habbo.es (Spain) can not do casinos or play it?

    Paul LaFontaine ‏@PaulLaFo

@iDeCarmencita Spain is clear on the rules. Gambling and casinos are not allowed so we happy to comply. thx

Strange, as I'm sure the EU bought in a legislation against encouraging, glamourising, or involving 'children' (not sure of the exact age range) in gambling of any sort. I know this, because (brace yourself this is gonna sound sad) this is the reason fruit machines were removed from the Pokemon games. I find it very strange that other EU users are permitted to be involved in casinos on Habbo. I'm not saying I would want this changed; whilst I don't have much to do with casinos myself I know just how important they are to many players, especially long term, and I think it would do a great deal of damage to Habbo in terms of the users online and playing the game if casinos were banned. They're also very important to the Habbo economy.

I think the hotel has grown to large for Hobbas or similar "user-mods" to work effectively. It worked when hotels were still local and much smaller, but after the merge there is just too many users for the program to work in the same manner.

The helpers system is a good addition; as Paul tweeted earlier, it means users can answer simple calls where a user is asking a question to help free up the mods for actually problems; ie, the kind of material C4 uncovered. So I can see there is a room for a system like this, it's just important that the regular users aren't given real powers (other than answering calls involving questions) as it would just create more problems.

2/2 for social elements we do the same. Intro chat, small and then big, watch reaction and measure results. so we roll along together.

3/2 I now commit to actively protect our community. Seek out those who have bad intent. Habbo is a fresh look at safety. Cheers

    oh there's more.

I *think* (I've been doing a lot of that lately, it's really starting to hurt) he means they will introduce new safety measures and old social interactions in stages, similar to how the help system has been bought in. They'll open up a small bit, ie, IM, spend some time ensuring it works the way they want it to and they can handle it (moderation wise), then, once they're happy, they'll open up a bit more (ie, events.) I *think* this is what he means by this; it fits in with everything else we've been told so far. It's most probably because they can't really put their new systems to the test until we get to use them. No amount of professional testing will ever compare to actually putting something out there.

Yeah don't give the Hobba role to anyone who applies, obviously do background checks, interviews maybe and other stuff to make sure they aren't anyone dodgy. Abusing power can always be solved in a way by keeping an eye on these people - I mean they must do it for moderators surely? Training can be issued. Even hiring actual moderators working for the company and in the correct timezones would benefit Habbo a lot.

They will most lilely not bring them back because they love their "Helper" so called system far too much. But the current moderation sucks, I don't know If they have changed that for when the unmute occurs we shall see.

Problem with all these checks is time and money. It's far easier for Sulake just to bring in a professional moderator. And I think the moderators will be a lot better now, they have to be for Habbo to survive really.

Ah-ha, makes sense. Thank you! Welcome to HxF, by the way!
