GOLD MEDAL and world record for TeamGB in the cycling track.

GOLD! WORLD RECORD! Sir Chris Hoy Philip Hindes & Jason Kenny tear the track apart to win Gold in the Men's Team Sprint Cycling in a new World Record time of 42.6seconds.

Sir Chris Hoy's 5th Olympic Gold Medal. Sensational. Congratulations gentlemen.

    Fantastic day for Team GB.

Shame about Victoria Pendleton and Jess Varnish being disqualified in the cycling. Victoria has another two events so fingers crossed for her.

Was it 3 Gold and 3 Silver today?

    Thanks

The cycling on the roads and at the velodrome I have really enjoyed. As I drove this morning I heard some news on the radio with regard to the cycling. Surrey County Council is hoping to bring a stage of the Tour de France to its roads following Team GB's Olympic cycling success.

Staging the Surrey sections of the Olympic cycle races and time trials took 42 miles of roadside barriers, 5,000 cones, 4,000 road signs and 545 road closures.

Tour de Surrey? We will have to watch that space and see if it happens!

Such a shame about the womens cycling. The Chinese team were disqualified too. Apparently the mark to tell the cyclists that it is fine to overtake wasn't as clear as it could have been. The annoying thing now is that they've properly marked it, which sort of deems the whole cycling events a bit unfair and inconsistent :/
