no
What does listening to them have to do with it? Britney and Rihanna made it on their own without any X-Factor TV show/Cowell backup and Cheryl Cole is manufactured but atleast listenable.

cheryl cole listenable omg hahahahaha or maybe tolerable because she's fit? same with one direction. they both get by on looks, one direction for the females (males too ofc), cheryl cole primarily for the males and they both mine too. you could argue you like cheryl's music but it's just the same as one direction. people genuinely like them and why not? they're not BAD singers like jedward/cheeky girls/chico etc
also don't see the problem with getting your record deals through x-factor, there have been successful and talented artists who got known through x-factor and would be unheard of without it :S people busk in the streets, get spotted through youtube videos etc too it's just the same.
eh people have different tastes we just have to accept that even if you don't like them

You make it sound as if they spent years playing clubs in the underground before finally getting a record deal lol. You do not have to come from the X-Factor to be manufactured. Listening to them has everything to do with it because you imply that's a reason they're bad when many of the artists you admire are exactly the same. Let's just put it into perspective unless it's still hard to understand.
Their music is manufactured by a bunch of songwriters and producers - go ahead and check the credits on all three of those artists' latest album. I know it happens for Rihanna, I don't know about the others but her label organises "writing camps" (you can actually read an article about it here) where a group of writers and producers get flown out and they get paid to write the album over a couple of weeks, then Rihanna comes in afterwards and records it. They pay tens of thousands of dollars for lyrical gems such as; "I love it I love it I love it when you eat it (x8)" and "cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake cake"
when all they do is be the puppets of Cowell whilst millions of delusional teens go crazy over them - need I even say anything? Replace "Cowell" with the respective labels of Britney, Rihanna and Cheryl, and there you have it.
Same thing. I just think you don't like One Direction and are looking for reasons to make them look bad.

I don't really have a problem with 1D, I just didn't think they should really have been at the closing ceremony of the Olympics like that, they just kinda stuck out to me
They have good voices, I'm just not a fan of boy bands at all soo![]()
Well you're right, I don't like them at all and just don't find their music appealing. That's my opinion for that and we can agree to disagree on anything else& Cheryl Cole is not that attractive in the slightest :L
Exactly my point. Their song that's what makes you beautiful got the song of the year or something award wise and it just reminded me of every other boyband love song.I'll bring some realism here, cannot stand them (not on a Bieber level- but close). Their music is manufactured by a bunch of songwriters and producers and they get the credit for the artist, when all they do is be the puppets of Cowell whilst millions of delusional teens go crazy over them for being the best band EVARR. Pretty disappointing what music has accumulated to but that's just my opinion.
I can understand why people like them but it's not for me. I like proper music, not a group thrown together without really any input. It seems people who wan't to be an artist these day's like to take the fast track to stardom. I do like the unheard artists out there fighting to survive with their own style, image and voice. There are some amazing artists who rarely get radio time and definitely deserve it.
Please never use the phrase "proper music" again, there's no such thingExactly my point. Their song that's what makes you beautiful got the song of the year or something award wise and it just reminded me of every other boyband love song.

if you actually looked at the booklet inside their album they are credited for 3 out of the 13 songs on their normal album (not the limited edition one) and they did actually help to write them 3 songs. Yes its still a small percentage of the actual album, but at least they've been honest about the songs they did and didn't write unlike a few well known artists![]()
Personally, I can't stand them. I actually prefer Justin Bieber because I believe he's an alright person, but with One Direction they seem just arrogant and cocky. Their music isn't too my taste either.
Other people can like them (mainly all the young teenage girls and my mother), but once they start spouting on about how they're the best boy band ever and how they'll be together for years and years, that's what annoys me![]()
