Default Can't move apps to SD card on Galaxy s2

Every time I try to move an app to the SD card on my galaxy S2 I get a message telling me I can't move it as there isn't enough storage space. Yet I have 8.9 free. I've tried some apps and they don't seem to work. Is there a way to do this without rooting my phone?

    Thanks.

Are you sure the app you're trying to move, can be moved? The developer has to allow the ability to move them.

Ha this might sound stupid but the phone didn't have an SD card in it. I just presumed one must have came with it because it told me there was space on it even though no card existed. Bought one today and stuff moves fine.
