What advice is there to give? She wants a Mac laptop, Apple only make 3 models. Pick the one she can afford and move on with life.

I also think you'll find these "windows fanboys" own Macs too

Lets see mmm...Maybe the cheapest place to buy one online, which was the whole point of the thread????? You've offered nothing constructive at all. She said she wasn't dead set, so at least offer some better alternatives.

Well it's pretty obvious that the cheapest place is going to be Apple through their Educational discounts page... Apple products are generally kept at retail value everywhere, which she could easily see by taking 5 minutes to look without us.

You guys are so easy to work up x

I highly recommend a macbook. I've got one and do all my school work on it and It's really helpful. It's fast and i've had it for over a year without any problems. You can buy them on other sites but it might be quite hard to get brand new and never used but you most likely can, just depends how quickly you are wanting it. I'd love a pro simply because they're more modern (i have the first mac) but yeah they are expensive. Not too sure about how many you'll be able to get at a student discount though! D: Goodluck!!!

Edit: It took me to the first page of the thread so i am a bit behind and didn't see the rest of the conversation =/

i didn't know about the student discount prior to posting this thread, that's why it's in the edit.
what is wrong with me making a thread? maybe someone had information where i could get it cheaper, which in fact two people did.
one posted the refurbished store and the other pmed me with a link to amazon in which he got himself a mac for 800 pounds and could vouch for it.

i'm sorry that my - rep to you has gotten you so mad

I've not seen such a pretentious thread in this forum for such a long time!

So you're asking us for our opinion on you getting a Mac? As you clearly have your heart set on it and know all about the discounts, this thread is here just to brag and show off that you've got 3,000 Euros/Pounds/Dollars in a bank account to spend. You were literally asking for trouble from the set off.

Oh, and don't mistake a Graphics Degree graduate from New York as intelligent. If he thinks a Mac is all you need for Graphics Design then he clearly has his inflated ego so far up his backside like many other pretentious and insatiably rude Graphic Designers out there. It's his fault if he's stupid enough to buy into this false idea that Macs are for art and design purposes and nothing else. It's offensive to both Mac and PC users alike.

can you read? this thread was to ask where i could get it the cheapest as i thought people may know somewhere better than the apple website. i didn't know about any discounts HENCE THE EDIT IN THE ORIGINAL POST. only after did i find out about the student discount, it's not advertised over here so i had no clue.

second, the intention of this thread was not to brag.... it's a ******* laptop. what's wrong with you people?
macs are recommended because ALL THROUGH FIRST YEAR YOU USE THE MAC COMPUTERS IN THE LABS
we've learnt everything through those computers, so why not make life a little easier for myself by getting a macbook.
many people in graphic design use macs, get over it. it's hardly my problem that they are regarded as 'design/art laptops' while pcs are regarded as 'business'

you clearly didn't read my original post or any posts in the thread

No, because it was immediately evident that you have no intention to read what people have said and be incredibly rude in return. Why mention how much you have in an account? It was clearly added to brag, as no one needs to know how much money you have in a bank account.

You then go on to say "Pretty sure I work harder than most of you." How rude and pretentious. When someone asked are there any reasons you want a MacBook other than a Mac you responded with "nope", then asked that person "Is that a problem for you?"

You fit the Apple sterotype perfectly. It was completely unnecessary :/

EDIT: You also said in a post to Futz that you aren't "dead set" in getting a Mac. So which is it? You want a Mac and you wanted the cheapest option to get it - yet you also say you want anything that can do the job, with the suggestion by your teacher. It's no wonder people are annoyed because you don't really know what you want. You want a Mac and nothing else, yet you then try and say you want anything that can do the job, then get touchy over the subject while also getting rude.

Your post was fine until you started identifying her with stereotypes. Doing that is stupid because obviously millions and millions and millions of Apple users aren't Steve Jobs Junior, and not all Windows users are gaming addicts or unknowledgable computer users as certain Mac Rumours users would have you believe. Don't become one of them.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.
