    Another thing is, I've noticed in the Westfield shopping centres here there are quite a few mobile phone/tablet repair businesses, so if you have a repair shop nearby you could try them
    That's really helpful. I don't think I did anything, I left it lying charging in my room and when I picked it up the vertical lines appeared. It had a case around it and I didn't do anything different so yeh.

    I heard from a friend that phone repair stalls can sort it out so I might try that first then Apple. Can someone link me to how to contact apple support online because it's hard to navigate through it lol.

    Have you checked on Apples website to see if you have an approved repair store near you? When I was living in Oxford I used to take my Apple stuff to an approved repair site. They then shipped it off free of charge etc for you.
