Around 10. If I die, I die. I'd be suicidal anyway if I never opened any boxes.
What if there were 10 boxes, 9 containing death and one containing your mother/loved one. Would you risk your life to potentially save theirs?

I think I'd open about 30-40 odd, but I'd probably give some away.
But I'd take a few and open them as and when I ran out of £100,000. So like a bank with withdrawals.
superhappy.
Just go to random.org and have the random number generator go from 1 to 100, if it picks 1 you die, and you lower the upper limit as you carry on.

So you would risk your life at a 40% chance of dying?
Absolute madness.
I would pick deal.
I think people are getting the Maths all wrong, if you decide to go for a 40th box - surely that means only 1/60 boxes would kill you, which is a 0.016% chance at dying. But the fact is, to get to the 40th box you must have had to survive 39 other boxes, so the probabilities add up.
Basically, if you go and pick your Xth box, you have a X% of being dead already.
So some of you might think that if you got down to the final two boxes, it's a 50/50 chance - actually, it's a 99% chance that you will be dead after that box.
no its still 50/50I think people are getting the Maths all wrong, if you decide to go for a 40th box - surely that means only 1/60 boxes would kill you, which is a 0.016% chance at dying. and id pick 20
does sound suicidal, but would you rather live until say 40 doing exactly what you want or join the rat race and enjoy your life once your health starts to turn?Just go to random.org and have the random number generator go from 1 to 100, if it picks 1 you die, and you lower the upper limit as you carry on.

It does sound quite juvenile but I imagine it to be something like the Bucket List or Seven Pounds.
Can't say it's the greatest logic ever, but do you really want to live until your 90s?
and I'd like to chose, so if it was a freak accident that was instant.
@Stephen!

superhappy.
The chance of dying on your 99th pick itself is 50% chance of dying.
Being dead after the 99th box is 99% chance.

You wouldn't live till 40 if you picked the wrong box. You would die, you wouldn't get the money you had won up until that point. It's an instant death scenario, not a 'You can spend your money but your life will be shorter'does sound suicidal, but would you rather live until say 40 doing exactly what you want or join the rat race and enjoy your life once your health starts to turn?
