Wait I'm confused, are you arguing for it to be content purely because content is called "content" and not "news" then?
They are easily combinable, but we don't want them to be, we want simple, straight to the point guides

And pretty much. What is the job of the content department? To create content for Habbox.com and the wiki... What is the job of a news reporter? To write news reports on the new things going on in Habbo/Sulake and sometimes articles on items that aren't as new.

Think about it, if you wanted a big event running, what department would you go to first?

the thing is I would assume we would be combining the news that "a new badge has been released" and the guide, making it all very concise as it seems a bit stupid to have the news of a new badge released separate really, in which case it most certainly is news.
Well there we go, if we give it to news, we're not getting a guide which is straight to the point, we're getting a 'Today a new badge was released on Habbo Hotel', which people don't want to read.

This is what I meant earlier by news writing too much Why do they have to be combined? What's wrong with having a guide and a news article?

from when I was in content anyway the role was less of writing content for the pages on the main site but more just spagging what's already been written and writing new versions for v7 in the main site aspect of it, and it's mainly for designing content anyway.

to me I can very clearly see a difference between the two after working in them both, especially news for a long time, but yea

There's a NEW EVENT in Habbo, where you can win a NEW badge. I'm not seeing your point.

And for the first sentence, how does it make it more complex? It would add A SENTENCE saying "this is the badge you could win - insert badge here - by following this guide:" or something along those lines.

I'm bewildered you'd want to divide news on a badge itself and how to get it, it's concise and easier to make it 1 item. One item providing 2 pieces of important news suffices better.

Yea literally just an example of what it would be like -

*A new badge shown below has been released today for winning a certain event.* for the opening paragraph for the news of the new thing mainly adding 1 more sentence to say what it is or whatever.

*To win it go to x room and then *step 1* , *step 2* etc to get it* for the explanation bit

really does make more sence to combine them really which is more reason for news to do it tbh

Of course, how can you write new content pages without new content? I remember talking with @laura; a few months back, and she had written new content pages, just needed V7 for it sadly. The content department should manage content, is my point here

So that means the guides will be lost in the news then?

assuming some widget for it or whatever then hopefully not, they would possibly be combined onto front page with normal news as well for the new badge news though. more reason for the widget thing though really!

Here's a new recipe with new local ingredients... But that doesn't appear on BBC News

And I'll say what I just said to Inkwell, if we have just a news article on it then, we'll lose the guide after a day of news reports?

Well I think a paragraph is over-exaggeration as personally I would only go for one sentence, but if someone put a paragraph (which I would frown upon unless vital) for an intro I'd have them bold the answers + put them in red font. If the answers require images it's not hard to see the guide anyway.

It would also be appropriate to put [GUIDE] in the news title so users know.

So what happens if we have a few active guides at once? Will they all get pushed into the widget?

erm i'm assuming cause they are smaller articles they might get more then 3 on the front page at once? they will otherwise yea but they can always jsut go onto page 2 or the guides section on the top anyway if they wanted to read more at once without the normal habbo news
