    Default Guides/Answers

After reading the thread about HabboSecrets closing I started to wonder what Habbox could do, now I posted this in here as opposed to news as it's wider than that and can get more opinions.

I know that when I was a Head News Reporter I had the ability to add a category to the site and also choose whether it was visible or not, I think whilst there could be a gap in the market now for something like this it would have to be quick. If we had a category for the news team called Guides/Answers, whatever fits (not too similar to the guides we already have on Habbox) then either, some chosen people who want to write guides or anything can have the permissions on site plus the title to show what they do and then they have the chance to write it - this would also be beneficial if it's on the news system due to the seniors being able to edit any SPAG issues they find to ensure the perfection and quality on site.

It's fine saying don't let news do it, which I don't mind either way, but we have the access to actually make it live in a matter of minutes in the news system, so we can grab that audience as fast as we can, plus we wouldn't need to wait until v7.

If we were to request members to write the guides and everything, something should be sorted so they don't get everyone writing about anything, plus it could work very similarly to the way in which news works now - you post if you're doing a task to avoid duplicates and when it's done post again then the seniors will close the thread for you, check it and edit anything necessary.

Also, with the system you can comment on the reports you do so if a member wanted to post about the guide or discuss it if they didn't get something then they could.

I just thought this would be the quickest solution to try and grab the audience HabboSecrets aimed at.

    Thoughts?

I think we should have an answers page but I don't think it should be incorporated into the news area. It should be its own site/section completely with completely different staff - and there can be seniors in that department to ensure the quality. Sure do it, but don't rush into it, make it worthwhile

I am fully in support of this and was exactly what I was thinking of when I read the thread.

Whether we would be hiring set people to do this under a new title as you said or just using news reporters I don't know but it's something we should probably start very soon to take that niche market now. Assuming it's fine and has support from people I'll probably get that category set up very soon really so we can start asap lmao

i suggested this months ago and im pretty sure you shurrged it off and told me you were not allowed because you would have to put them in spoilers.

i don't think news should be in charge of it. news don't seem to understand that people don't want to read a detailed guide about about the maze, they would probably describe the maze and include every other pointless thing under the sun before getting to the guide (which would probs be an essay also lol)

I don't think it would require it's own department to the degree of needing seniors etc. It could be run under either news or content with a subteam in that department. I think what Sam was saying by using the news system is that nothing new would have to be added except a new category for the guides to be posted under, which could be linked to from the main nav bar so it's easily visible but I do think that an independent team should be established for it, just not a whole new department if you get me.

if it happened I wouldn't stick a word limit on it probably and it would be under a different section for all that so that wouldn't really be a problem.

    -----------

on the topic of new department or whatever I would probably say it would be better to just have a seperate role within the news team for it bit like when we had real life reporters/articles staff so that they would just be doing this really, with the ability for other people in the dep to still write them as well if they wish to.

ye hayden is in news atm and yea i would hope more people would apply for that especially due to them not having to have a word limit if they did too.

Is this not something the Wiki is better suited for?

well the wiki can be changed by anyone... and people don't want to write the guides themselve they want them easy to find and since the badges are only there for a short space of time i think news would be better?
