As heartwarming as the case studies are, I would note that Apple didn't actually do ANY of the work involved for these apps. They show off how they are helping Africa, why not put some of that $150,000,000,000 cash pile towards eradicating malaria, a disease that kills 1.2m annually, causes brain damage in many young children destroying any chance they may have once had at escaping the poverty cycle. I totally respect Apple is a computer business, but it almost angers me how they try and show how incredible they are based on OTHER PEOPLES work. Furthermore, all these wonderful applications that can truly save lives could be truly incredible if Apple could release a cheap version of iOS for these countries (lock it down to only work with select apps if they must).

Undeniably those apps are incredible, and it is great they work on iOS - but the case is simply that these apps COULD work on WP, Android etc if they were developed for it - Apple really hasn't paved the way for this to happen, and my god if they really wanted to make a difference, that $150Bn would go one hell of a long way.

Looks lovely, looking forward to using it. Probably won't need to jailbreak anymore after seeing the features, they've raided a ton of features on Cydia Store such as the Control Center (SBSettings\IntelliScreenX) & unlimited folders (Infinifolders). Hear it's proper unstable at the mo though, so best steer clear.

I don't think they are trying to take credit for the apps that have been created. They are showing off the apps on iOS and how some of those have changed lives or made lives easier. They are showing that apps on iOS are making a difference and they are. You can't deny that fact, any other platform can also do this but Apple are showing the apps on their platform which is obvious. (Most of the apps they have shown are also on Android but that's up to them to Android suppliers to advertise that)

None of the people in the video are from Apple either which also proves my point. They are basically advertising what their products can do with the apps that people have made. They aren't misleading anyone in the video staying no other product can do it.

For those discussing Apple stealing ideas and what not (I assume most of this thread without even having to read it, predictable enough eh?), check out this article. It's about iOS 7's influences, and the design work on the actual article is beautiful:

Read that a few minutes ago and I agree with one of the quotes/statements

"The issue isn't whether Apple stole, it's whether it did a good job of it"
At times you have to take ideas/features from other companies as it does actually make sense.

Completely agree, there's copying and then there's making it better. I think Apple have subsequently done a mix of both looking at the OS from pictures. One of the bits I loved was about how the Android back swipe actually came from Nokia, so does that make Android the copy? Just kidding, it's improvement on innovation.

Really? I'd say "Apple - Making A Difference" is 100% giving themselves the credit for it, I mean that is blatant... if they weren't they would have titled it "Developers - Making A Difference". I don't mind companies claiming credit (which they HAVE implied in the title alone) - but please, only if they made that life changing app, or they stopped being disgusting and sitting on a monumental pile of cash.

Please, most or nearly all of their videos contain the word Apple at the front. Apple changed we looked at apps and the mobile industry when they brought their first phone out. Apple do donate to charity and even more under Tim Cook. Yes the apps they have shown can and do work on other platforms. Advertising is advertising at the end of the day and Apple do a good job at it.

Haha that's great. At least we won't see a lawsuit between MS and Apple

I'll admit I didn't view their other videos, but you simply cannot deny how it looks to someone who doesn't view all of their videos.

I am not denying they are incredible at marketing (hellooo look at my username, inspiration = Steve Jobs). I guess it is more my anger at the unnecessary stockpiling of cash - I mean come on even their own shareholders get angered by it.

Maybe they want to keep it for a rainy day, I don't know why people get upset over companies sitting on cash they have earned due to the products they sell. Fair enough if it's about the tax crap but leave them to do whatever they want with the money.
