I would hate anyone who simply sat on excessive piles of cash that they simply don't need, PARTICULARLY when they make boasts about how much they help people in need. I respect the individuals here for example; http://givingpledge.org/ - those who recognise they don't need the stupid amounts of money to survive. Investment in Africa, for example, could benefit Apple anyway (rise gdp = higher incomes = more products sold in Africa). Mind you, if they did the same in Asia their labour costs would rocket (hey, Foxconn!)

Well it's not like they don't donate altogether which would be worse.

Yes, because Apple has always been a company that likes to think "well we could do worse" - is this not a company that thrives of doing the best they can? The $8m donation to China was not really optional, given the huge anti-Apple coverage over the continued Foxconn incidents - that is CSR.

Apple happens to have the largest cash pile, yet doesn't make it into the top ten when it comes to donating money (or spending it at all, apparently). I am not saying they should give away $150Bn, of course I'm not. Just I don't think a company should be boasting about how it is helping people when in reality, it simply isn't.

I got the feeling that the video was showing how the apps are helping people make a difference, not apple making a difference themselves.

Also, I think Apple is rather charitable as they match employee contributions to charities.

"Quite charitable" - give considerably less than the other two giants (Google and Microsoft), yet are sitting on FAR more cash. Whether people think firms should give to charity or not, one cannot claim they are charitable lol

I know it's been mentioned a lot but I think some of the stuff with the iOs re-design borrows a lot from others e.g. Android, Windows 8 etc. Obviously a lot of apple fans won't agree though.

It does, but I think it is time people just accepted this is the way to improve things - although I do find it a little ironic given all the patent disputes Apple dishes out!

But they have taken some UI elements, and well, made them better.

Oh yeah I understand that stealing happens I just find it ironic to about both the patent disputes from Apple even design wise e.g. the bevel of the iPad ha and the fans. It wouldn't surprise me if some fans where stating they had thought of it first years ago but just didn't use it lol

Bye bye skeuomorphism. It'll be interesting to see how Apple manages this without looking like a Windows Phone / Android rip off.

OH MY WORD MICROSOFT JUST BURNT APPLE:

I still prefer how Apple has taken thing's and polished them better then MS or Android

I am not denying they are incredible at marketing (hellooo look at my username, inspiration = Steve Jobs). I guess it is more my anger at the unnecessary stockpiling of cash - I mean come on even their own shareholders get angered by it.
You really annoy me to hell.

You do know how many companies don't do anything for charities and earn **** loads too? Go moan about them then moan about Apple, as previously said least they do something.
