this is very true. i know someone who only completed 3 GCSEs and she still got into Cambridge. i dont even put my gcses on my CV anymore they're that useless.
English Literature - A (I thought I did awfully in the test)
Media - A
English Language - B!!!
Maths - B
Science Additional - B (I PASSED PHYSICS OH MY GOD)
Science Core - B
Statistics - B
RE - B
ICT - B
Food Tech - C
Spanish - D (Probably could have been a C if I didn't have such an AWFUL listening but I expected this)
HAPPY
How the **** did she manage that lol
Oxbridge generally say you have to have a good number of GCSEs that are all A*/A grades. I've found the "best" UK Universities often request all GCSEs to be good grades.

My Level 2 Childcare diploma results weren't in the envelope. asdfghjkl
Just the enrollment form for sixth form. aaaaaaagh
she studied two A levels at home and completed an access course (whilst working full time) so i suppose they thought she made up for it. getting bad gcses doesn't limit your options if you're willing to work hard to make up for them. there are lots of stories like that at even the most elite universities.
Retook my maths this year because I got a D when I left school at 16, didn't really realise how important it was at the time but just got my C today which will do fine for me! Well done everyone xx
Working hard doesn't necessarily open all the options for you, baring in mind many people with straight A* grades commonly get rejected.she studied two A levels at home and completed an access course (whilst working full time) so i suppose they thought she made up for it. getting bad gcses doesn't limit your options if you're willing to work hard to make up for them. there are lots of stories like that at even the most elite universities.

er to those slagging off btecs they are very much "worthy". i got a triple distinction grade btec at a-level level and have had offers from top university's.
He wasn't saying that lol, he was saying in certain cases it does happen which is true. Also it's not just grades even though they're important, that they're looking at, they're looking at how rounded you are as a person, life experience etc, The girl obviously worked HARD, I studied an access course this year and they're very intense so working full time as well as that.... plus self teaching 2 alevels. Very commendable.
