and I understand djs not taking requests when the request is ridiculous, they've usually got a set ready for a particular vibe/genre of music and someone comes up and asks "can you play what the fox says"

Dont do requests but I go to clubs with r'n'b "side" rooms where they play old school hip hop, The Next Episode gets me in the mood or ****gy.
