Default David Cameron and Godfrey Bloom release their Christmas cards

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2520523/Christmas-greetings-Bongo-Bongo-Land-MEP-****-wife-Godfrey-Bloom-reveals-self-mocking-card.html?ico=home^editors_choice

Christmas greetings from Bongo Bongo Land MEP and his '****' wife: Godfrey Bloom reveals his self-mocking card

    - MEP Godfrey Bloom poses with bongos in family Christmas card
    - Wife Katie dresses up in reference to her husband calling women who do not clean properly '*****'
    - Photo, taken in their kitchen, will be on cards posted to friends and family

But unlike many other politicians, the outspoken MEP Godfrey Bloom clearly doesn’t take himself too seriously.

After a year in which he has grabbed the headlines for outspoken comments about aid to ‘Bongo Bongo Land’ and women being ‘*****’ for not doing the cleaning properly, the 64-year-old and his wife have posed for a self-mocking Christmas card.

Godfrey Bloom holds bongos in their Christmas card and wife Katie does her best '****' impression

The photo, taken in the kitchen of the couple’s house in a village near Goole, East Yorkshire, will be on cards posted to friends and family.

Mr Bloom said yesterday: ‘It’s a little bit of fun and I’m sure the photo will give people a good laugh.

'We have done a few of these photo cards of ourselves over the years, but we only ever send self-deprecatory ones.

'It would be terribly vulgar and naff to send a Christmas card making us look good.’

And if there was ever any doubt about Mrs Bloom’s backing for her gaffe-prone husband, this picture dispels them.

Referring to equine physiotherapist Mrs Bloom, 52, whom he calls ‘Commander in Chief', he said of the festive photo: 'It was her idea.'

He said: ‘She said “why don’t we stick two fingers up at the b*******” and so we did this. It was fun to do.’

It’s been an extraordinary year for the previously little-known politician who has found himself front-page news for his outlandish comments and behaviour.

He already had a reputation as a ‘sexist dinosaur’ for comments about women needing to ‘clean behind the fridge’, then he highlighted concerns about spending on foreign aid with a supposedly ‘racist’ speech about helping ‘Bongo Bongo land’ and he followed that up by his jokey announcement at a UKIP fringe meeting promoting women in politics that ‘the room is full of *****.’

Mr Bloom, who has recently published his autobiography, was finally forced out of UKIP after he hit a TV journalist over the head with a conference programme in an angry on-camera clash.

Relaxing at home, the former city investment manager said his wife’s pose with dusters, a glass of red wine, curlers, cigarette in mouth, apron and bright red lipstick, was her best attempt ‘to portray a ****.’ While he always enjoyed playing his pair of bongo drums.

Might some of Mr Bloom’s critics take offence again? Well if they do he and his wife certainly don’t care.
Absolute legend, my favourite British poltician by miles - why? because he doesn't act like one.

Here is Dave's 2013 Christmas card which has been criticised for being non-festive...

It's nice to know we'll have a replacement for Prince Phillip when the day comes.

    Thoughts?

Godfrey Bloom is hardly going to ever have the status of Prince Phillip.

Self mocking, shame it is because of his blatantly racist comments.

David Camerons card isn't exactly festive, but is not uncommon - a family photo is becoming more common with personalised cards.

There's a reason people act like policitians... It's because that's what they are.

I don't understand these personalised Christmas cards. I thought Christmas cards were meant to represent Christmas. Meh.

If he's such a racist then it's very strange that he's backing a man of Indian heritage to replace him in 2014.

Either way, I found it funny. That's all the thread is about. A joke. A laugh. Relax.

Just seemed odd that you would need to make reference to David Cameron's perfectly normal Christmas card..

In British English, Bongo Bongo Land (or Bongo-bongo Land) is a derogatory reference to Third World countries, particularly in Africa, or to a fictional such country.

Yeah, I'd brand him a racist.

Just thought i'd include it as a reference to other news. Sheesh.

Maybe readers of the Guardian, the BBC in general and people such as yourself will see that as racist, to the rest of us it's the kind of normal language we hear down at the pub. You know, it's really a shame that people like you twist words of out context and attempt to shut down debate by labelling people racist, this, that, X and Y .... it's no wonder that normal people - especially the working class - haven't the slightest interest in politics when it's all so PC.

Take a chill pill and live a little without taking offence on behalf of everybody else, there's a good lad. I mean, the reason Godders has even made a Christmas card like this is exactly to annoy and get up the noses of people like you - and it's worked. Good on him and long may he continue.

I wouldn't associate myself with people who refer to "bongo bongo land" whilst down the pub, not because of the term in itself, just it isn't the sort of thing I would expect to come from the kind of person I like to speak to (ie. not living in the past, or just blatantly common).

To be honest, it is laughable to hear about twisting words, from someone such as yourself that makes constant threads BASED ENTIRELY on twisted facts (you love Murdoch papers, as Daltron proved the other day), and twist every thing you can to make out as if UKIP is the perfect British party, that the entire country supports. So please, don't tell me about twisting things - that is exactly what you do day in, day out.

To be honest, I really couldn't give a **** what Godfrey Bloom is giving as his personal Christmas card; however the fact you made the thread (heck, I wouldn't even have read a news article if it had appeared whilst glancing at headlines) suggests you are the one who cares and wants to once again somehow have a dig at David Cameron for having a Christmas card... with his family on it. Jesus, that really shows how down to earth "Godders" is, and what a pompous, out of touch bloke Cameron is.

    ---

I should point out that I LIKE the light hearted approach to his card (despite the fact I disagree with his comments) - but I cannot see the relevance in Cameron's card - I mean the article doesn't even mention that!

lol what. I post mainly from the Daily Telegraph (non-murdoch) and Daily Mail (non-murdoch).

Find me the last time recently that I posted a story from The Times, the News of the World, The Sun or the Financial Times and i'll give you a +rep and a sticker.

Never said they were perfect, said a few times in the past actually that they're the means to an end. But that's another story and debate.

Well actually I mainly posted it to wind people like you up who went on a big rant about how racist etc he was when he made those bongo-bongo/women are ***** comments.

And Cameron is out of touch, as I prove week in and week out. I don't need a photo to prove it.
