i never know about a shoutbox. I usually find that if a forum doesn't have great activity, it just takes away from the activity, or it just doesn't get used.

Yeah, I was told there was a shoutbox although it was taken away because it was decreasing posting.

There was a shoutbox a couple of years back. It didn't work out so we got rid of it.

As people have already said, a shout box isn't a great idea because it lowers the posting rate on the forum. Another reason why I am against having a shoutbox is because it would be very difficult to Moderate and as a Mod can't be sitting there watching it 24/7, moderating would also be very inconsistent.

Dislike shout out, probably be overused and you'd barely see what anyone writes, that and as people have said, takes people away from posting

iirc you can do it with custom settings fields like with the snow and fixed vs fluid width.

Well I'm working this evening and I will look at it as soon as I can, hopefully tonight but it's not probable. Still getting used to the panel and such so I'll have a play around.
