I am not opposed to this. Contrary to what some people are saying, I think this shows a great future for the games floor of Habbo. People will find other ways to win furni so they will turn to games to make profits.

I never gambled much over my time on Habbo. I always subtly knew it was a way for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. I didn't want to get sucked into it like so many others have. I found other ways to make profits which were just as lucrative, such as trading.

Children and teens should not be exposed to gambling as it will simply reinforce the habit later on in life. There are plenty of games and events that do not require dice. This will do nothing to hamper Habbox's or other fansites' ability to host events.

I think this is a smart move, and Sulake seems eager to moderate it properly, but I'm sure people will find alternative ways to gamble. They won't be able to ban every furni that has some sort of function or chance element from the hotel, so their only option is to enforce the rules by moderating strictly and actively.

uhm. i do recall several occasions where furniture value dropped drastically within 24 hours. gamblers shouldn't be compensated anyway, it's not like they forced you into dealing/betting... the merge was forced upon us, hence the compensation.

I just heard that they had to stop gambling because of the age rating on the Habbo mobile application, if they continued they'd have to tick 'betting' on the application meaning that only only users 18+ would be able to download it - and a prompt would come up warning them that it is 18+ to play. If they gave Apple false details, and went with that there is no betting on the hotel - they could see their app developer account being terminated.

As I said before, things like this have always happened in the past. People that had super rares that were released into the catalogue were never compensated.

With dice limit the only things that are actually prevented are games that require each player to have a dice. 13/21/poker etc are still possible, just use the same dice more than once.

People seem to be reading too much into this. The rule is in place to prevent young children from gambling, not to prevent enjoyment of games that have some rng aspects. If we're really going to be pedantic about the word 'gambling' and suggest that p2s in a game is gambling on the chance to win the prize (as opposed to just paying to be in the game longer and have more fun...) then how about trading for an item? Surely by buying it you are gambling on it not being released into the catalogue and dropping in price dramatically?

The rule prevents people betting. Nothing else.
Ah, all the Higher or Lower I've seen is a row of dice and each person takes their turn to try and reach the end of the dice.

Erm, I'm fully aware that Sulake owns all the virtual items legally speaking, and you certainly don't need to start telling me about their terms and conditions.

    • @Lewis; said users should be compensated for the effect this has on certain rare items, including the Throne
    • You replied with 'gamblers shouldn't be compensated'
    • I pointed out that gamblers aren't the only people who own Thrones. I am not implying that all users in possession of the Throne virtual item actually own it in legal terms.

Clearly you've mistaken me for someone else.. I've only had positive effects from the gambling ban so far as a result of getting 6c per my holodice.
