All countries are moving towards privatised healthcare at different speeds. Why? Because it's better. The medical or healthcare service nowadays is so vast and so expensive that it's becoming impossible for governments to a) afford it & b) manage it.

The Green Party leader who wrote to you back is talking complete nonsense. Healthcare is not free and will never be free, nor will it ever be done for no profit. Would you spend years in training as a Doctor to make an average wage? No, you wouldn't. Are the drug companies going to invest HUGE sums of money into new drugs and treatments without a return on their investment? No. Investment and profit are what drive improvements in care, it's when you don't have them along with competition that you get worse care.

What is it about westerners nowadays who think the state can provide EVERYTHING and for free? It was tried and tested in Soviet Russia. It failed.

Well the Gov't can offord it. If they can offord to give tax breaks and subsidiaries to big Companies ontop of their ever so high profits, then they can offord to Help the Tax Payers. The 99% are who contribute to the system, yet its the 1% who get it all.

$60 Billion aprox was lost in revenue for the Canadian Gov't because of Tax break and Subsidiaries last year alone. $36 Billion in funding the Health Care per year is gonna be lost from the Federal Gov't. Now really, who is getting the **** end of the stick?

Canadians value our Health Care system and tbh it works. Yes wait times for non-emergency procedures can take a few months, but its worth it to be able to go to the Hospital, and know that your going to be getting the best care for you. That it doesn't matter how much money you have or who you are. You are going to get the proper care you need.

For example: A Man in the Usa who is middle class, just making it by. He was cutting some wood on his saw. The wood hits a knot and his hand slips. He looses his Index Finger and Ring finger. He goes to the Hospital and they tell him the price to put on his index finger is $60k and for his ring finger is $12k. He is left with a very hard choice, as its hard to put a value on your body. He decides to get just his ring finger. As he couldn't afford $60k. After the procedure he is left with a huge bill, lots of stress, and now a lot of debt he has to pay off, but with interest rates, he probably will be paying close to $30k by the end of it.


OR

Canada, a young man is working with a Band Saw, he ends up cutting all 4 of his fingers off. He goes to the Hospital, walks in and is looked after quickly. Doctors reattach all of his fingers. He walks out with no bills, no debt, and well taking care of.

Thanks to everyone paying money into it, he didn't have to worry. Freddy Douglas, the Father of Health Care in Canada, who unfortunately died awhile ago, was nominated and won the Greatest Canadian Challenge or w.e it was. For a few months Canadians could vote on who the Greatest Canadian was, and Freddy Douglas won. We Canadians Value our Health Care, and are very proud of it. Lord Harper aka Bituman wants to take it away from us.

Heath Care will never be free. We pay for it with our Taxes and collectively we pay for each and everyones care. Health care right now is actually run as none profit, yes the doctors nurses and other staff get paid, and they are paid fairly well. Many Doctors are paid around $100k per year. That is compared to other jobs which pay around 20-40k. I must remind you that many specialists are paid well above this and depending on what it is and your location, they could be bringing in up to 200k. That is a really good pay, and all Doctors live a luxurious lifestyle. Nurses get around $40k I believe and Paramedics get a nice $48k.

Canada has a really competitive scene. Drug companies fight to make the best product, for the least amount of money, to be able to win contracts. Trust me these are big contracts. For example, Hip Replacement parts. If you win that contract, guess what, your selling lots of Hip replacements arn't you? For everyone who needs a Hip Replacement, which is very common here in Canada when people reach their retirement age. You cannot say that Canadians are getting **** treatment, as we are getting it good.

Guess what, We the People should be getting what We want. We pay the Taxes, and We want Health Care. Yes our Taxes could be much cheaper if we didn't pay for Health Care, but its our duty to make sure that noone gets denied proper Health Care because they don't have the Financial capabilities.

I highly suggest you watch Sicko, but Micheal Moore. Trust me, it was worth it.

But private is a choice (to who can afford it and a luxury for fast health care) the free health care still there, but the minority who will pay will get treated faster which I think is good and worth it if you can do it
