Default Green Party: scrap the British army and ALLOW uncontrolled immigration

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/eart...er-in-May.html

British army to be replaced by 'home defence force" if Greens win power in May

Natalie Bennett, the leader of the Greens, also said she wanted to take down immigration controls

Natalie Bennett, the leader of the Greens, also said illegal migrants would be given the right to stay in the UK. She added that in the longer term she wanted all immigration controls to be taken down.

Miss Bennett, who holds no elected office, was grilled about the party’s policies in an interview with presenter Andrew Neil on the BBC’s Sunday Politics.

Miss Green accepted that her party's party policy is to scrap Trident and leave Nato and to cut the size of the standing army, navy and air force.

She said: “We obviously need to defend our own borders, civil defence and we have a real responsibility as a rich country to contribute to UN peacekeeping forces.” Asked if that meant creating a new “home defence force”, she said: “Yes.”

She declined to comment on the size of this new force until a “Green Government” took office. She said: “Ah - the circumstances, the timing of, if you are thinking of when the Green government takes office we will be able to spell out.”

Miss Bennett - but who is the party's candidate for Holborn and St Pancras in May's general election - also said that a Green government would work to “progressively reduce UK immigration controls” over the “medium term”.

She said: “What we want to do now is to allow people who should have the right to be in the country to be in the country. We have to stop the race to the bottom on immigration rhetoric.

“People should have a right to be here which means asylum seekers and refugees – we are not treating them properly and we need to.

Asked if this amounted to an “open door” policy on immigration, she said: “We are looking both in the immediate term, and that will be the policies in the manifesto, the kind of policies I was just talking about.

“And in the longer term, 20 or 30 years hence, we talking about a different kind of society when the world is more equal, more balanced.”

Miss Bennett was also pressed on whether a Green Government would “make it legal for people living here to be a member of Al Qaeda or Isis or the IRA, making it legal to be a member of a terrorist organisation”.

She replied: “This is a part of our policy that dates back to the age of the ANC.

“What we want to do is to make sure we are not punishing people for what they think or what they believe.

“Obviously actions of inciting violence, supporting violence, those are absolutely unacceptable and illegal and should be pursued to the full extent of the law.”
This lot give the Monster Raving Loony Party a run for their money.

ON THE OTHER HAND she's also being honest as to what she wants, and considering I argue against these sorts of arguments all the time with many on here I suspect she'll be recieved rather well by them too so in one way it'll be music to their ears. And you've got to give them credit too in the Green Party, because at least they'll openly say these things rather than say the opposite and do these things anyway like the LibLabCon cartel do as they spit in the face of the public election after election. I am looking forward to the debates with Mrs Bennett especially as she'll rob the metro-lefty London Labour vote.

    Thoughts?

Look at Syriza in Greece, virtually the same as this lot and they're about to win an election tonight. Podemos in Spain too.

Green parties/their supporters are often aptly described as watermelons; green on the outside but red on the inside.

Yeah, whilst I don't really agree with much of the Green's policies (this i purely based on news articles + threads on other forums though), they deserve credit for actually being upfront their policies and not beating about the bush.

At least with green you'd actually know exactly what you were voting for They will certainly be interesting in the television debates.

Aren't they also in favour of scrapping Trident? They do have some silly policies
Edit: Yeah, it says it in the article!

Brighton in the last couple of years has shown why Greens aren't fit to control their own bladders let alone any cities. We already have a party for disconnected overzealous folk to support though so no worries that this will ever actually occur

I am fairly certain the Greens ran a computer that went through every policy other parties have and then set up a Manifesto using policies none of them have thought of in the hopes of being different. They're all such bad policies.
