My dog is currently named after a character in a book

I probably wouldn't name them after characters in books but when I'm reading I do sometimes think "oh that's a nice name for a child" so it's more inspiration than naming them after the character?

There's a few names of great thinkers or people in English and British history I would consider naming children after. My favourite for the name as well as the person would be the biblical name Enoch after the politician, poet and scholar Enoch Powell. There's loads of others too but that's my top.

    I couldn't care less.

There's plenty of children named after historical figures who don't command widespread support: Karl Marx you could argue led to millions being sent to death camps yet I am sure nobody would bat an eyelid with the name Karl. The same goes for a whole host of other names. As I have said before, most people who comment on Powell don't even understand that famous speech: as well as his other work which is still held in high esteem today, specifically his work on constitutional theory which my own professor (and a sitting member of the House of Lords) still refers to for constitutional reasons.

Dismissing him over a speech most haven't even read is lazy and ill-informed.

my sisters newborn has my eldest sister's name as a middle name, and if it was a boy it was going to have my name
so i'm going to have to carry it on and name my children with my sisters names

but i would like to name my children after my grandparents too because i think it's super cute!!
