Default Is going to the beach a normal or an unusual thing for you?

I had never thought of it but for some people going to the beach/the seaside is an unusual and rare thing as they live inland. In Britain of course this isn't a huge issue for most as we're a narrow island surrounded by water, although it still is the case for some. For Americans and others though, a lot of people never see the ocean or ever feel a beach which is really strange.

I live in Liverpool so as we're on the coast going to the beach is pretty normal for me.

    How about you?

I live in the NY, NJ, CN tri-state area where beaches are somewhat common, but aside from vacation? Yeah, unusual for a daily basis.

I never go to the beach to be honest, can't stand the sand.

I don't think I've been to the beach in the summer in the UK for a few years, although I often go to the beach in the winter for some bizarre reason.

We used to go to felixtowe beach every weekend and my friend john's family owned a few shops on the seafront so we would get free fish and chips and icecream after a long 1 hour day of walking around the market looking at what second hand or bulk-bought tat people were peddling. As I grew older I lost interest in going to the beach with my family and tended to get on the train with my friends instead and hide in the toilet so we didn't have to pay the fare. I don't go to the beach since I moved away from the coast, Liverpool is probably closest coastal place to me and I wouldn't go there cos it's full of grimy bin dippers.

I attempt to be at the beach once a week.. if not twice a month.. It takes about 45 minutes to the closest beach... so it has to be worth it.

Since I live about 5 minutes from the beach I do go spend an hour or so twice a week during summer depending on the weather obviously. To be honest I am not a beach person who would spend more than 1 hour there.

Not regularly, I much prefer shingle/pebble beaches to sand though
