The screaming in the recording is so upsetting. What a horrible thing to have witnessed. Youtube have removed the video now too.

I heard the cameraman's wife/partner/girlfriend was a producer at the TV station and was in the control room and watched it all happen Apparently the gunman went out and bought a gun after that church shooting that happened a short time ago.

RIP to the reporter and the cameraman

Countries that have more deaths by firearms per 100,000 people than the USA: Honduras, Venezuela, El Salvador, Jamaica, Swaziland, Guatemala, Colombia, South Africa, Brazil, Panama, Uruguay, Mexico

Countries that have less: Every developed country on earth.

Something tells me carrying firearms isn't protecting you lot.

this just in: The USA is not a developed country according to conservative.

You all want us to have stricter gun laws but do you really think criminals are going to obey them? That's a big fat nope. Criminals are going to get guns no matter what and the only people who will be affected are law abiding citizens.

anyway I watched that video and it was just awful, ugh I can't even imagine what it was like for her.

It's questionable. Let's be honest, though, you know what I meant to write (ie. every other). Certainly, your gun laws still need developing.

If you make it harder to get guns, they are considerably less likely to be used. Give every man and his dog a gun, and the chance is much higher. Why is it so many American's are too bloody thick to work this out?

New York and Chicago have some of the strictest gun laws in America, and yet their crimes involving guns are among the highest in the nation. So much for them being considerably less likely to be used.

Blimey, 2 of your 3 biggest cities have the most crimes involving guns. I'm truly shocked.

I think the main issue here is that Americans have conformed to having their so-called freedom with firearms for so long, that implementing anything close to the removal of them may cause more of an issue than there already is.

Yes guns are certainly easier to come by, but because of how long it has been this way it may cause more harm than good trying to remove them.

I certainly believe the laws need to be developed massively though, why are mentally unstable people able to access weapons of this sort? Even if they do not obtain them legally, if there weren't so many around that weren't locked up and kept safe, they'd be a lot harder for the mentally unstable to attain on one of their breakdowns.
It blows my mind just how easy it is to come across such a violent weapon in America, which is why it is so easy for criminals to obtain and use them.

It's not just NYC. You do understand New York is a state, it's not just that city, not really considered to be New York because it's detached from the state. Look at a map one day.

If one says; "New York and Chicago", they are evidently referring to cities, given that Chicago is not a state. That's like me saying "I like the weather in Madrid and Italy." - you just wouldn't say that..

Thanks for your advice though, sunshine.

But the crime rate is higher in Newburgh than it is in New York City.. I considered what he said as the state.
