But surely something like that means that customers are more likely to want to come back? If customers are really happy with the service somewhere they'll remember and make an effort to return so surely you're doing the company a favour (allbeit small) in the long run.

Exactly but the company wouldn't have agreed. I had a lot of customers who personally thanked me for going the extra mile. My last week there was the best, was as generous as I wanted haha. Glad I don't work there anymore (cough... Morrisons)

    omg @welshcake; for Morrisons
but yeah obviously the company wouldn't agree - no one ever gets rich by giving stuff away BUT I still think fantastic customer service is the best way to keep the customers coming in

same with banks like I don't understand why they have all these great deals for new customers and leave older customers in the dark? surely it's more beneficial to keep the customers you've got

Well I unintentionally left work with my bosses car keys in my pocket because I was using them on my break and forgot to give them back.

But I've never stolen anything, I'm too much of an angel.

The most I've taken from work is a pen even that was an accident where you just put it in your pocket and forget its in there till you get home. I always return it when I'm next in work though.

Only things that I'd put in my pocket to do a job, or by honest mistake.
