My suggestion of Peter Thiel, the billionaire PayPal founder, becoming VP hasn't quite come true yet... but he is now involved in the Trump campaign I just read.

Peter Thiel, PayPal co-founder, to be delegate for Donald Trump

Billionaire and longtime Republican donor is on ballot list in California to elect the party’s nominee for president

Thiel’s name was on a list submitted to the California secretary of state’s office by the Trump campaign as an approved candidate.

With Trump facing no active opposition as the presumptive Republican nominee, Thiel is a near certainty to be elected in the state’s 7 June primary.

A longtime Republican contributor, Thiel was one of the biggest donors to Ron Paul’s Super Pac in 2012. An openly gay yet avowed ideological libertarian, Thiel has previously given to a host of Republican candidates as well to unconventional projects like the Seasteading Institute, which seeks to build floating cities in international waters.

In a 2014 interview with the Daily Caller, Thiel criticized Trump as “sort of symptomatic of everything that is wrong with New York City”. However, Thiel does share certain ideological beliefs with Trump. The Silicon Valley billionaire is very hawkish on immigration and in 2008 reportedly made a $1m donation to Numbers USA, a group that advocates for reduced immigration to the United States. Numbers USA has praised Trump’s immigration plan and given the presumptive nominee an A-rating.

And why is he part of the team? Ooohhh, it's because Trump isn't self-funding his whole campaign after all. #shock

Thiel funded/was involved in funding the Ron Paul 2012 campaign too hence why I know of him. It's no secret he's involved in funding populists.

Quite reassuring actually. I have always been unsure of Donald Trump in whether he'll actually do as he says or whether it is just hyperbole whereas with Ron Paul it was clear as day. Still, I would probably take a chance with Trump even if it only meant a US-MX wall being built & better foreign policy.

"Ban Muslims" - it was only a suggestion
"Self-funding" - apart from the millions that aren't"
    Megyn Kelly comments
"I'm not a Politician" - "I'm no different than a politician running for office" (incidentally, very much like Mr Farage on that one!)

At least we can see that it is just hyperbole.

We'll see as campaign goes on. You speak as though I am a huge fan of Trump who is saying he's Mr 100% when I have said anything but. The likes of Ron Paul I have faith in - Trump I do not. But I am liking what I am seeing so far from Trump.

Even if he just fulfilled his wall pledge and built the US-Mexico border wall I would vote for him.

It is a shame he has softened his view on banning Muslims but it is probably because he realises he needs votes.

He has self funded a lot of his campaign, of course he needs donations too when it is a national campaign but he is so rich he is less likely to be bought than other politicians.

A part of me really wants him to win. It would be good to have someone who is not a full time politicians run the country. I like how he says things he actually thinks instead of things which poll well like other politicians.

I don't speak as though you are a huge-fan; I'm merely pointing out that a lot of what he has said thus far just seems to be hyperbole.

Banning all Muslims is a ridiculous idea.

He hasn't self-funded a lot of his campaign. He claims he has, but he has actually only given a few hundred thousand dollars of his own money; the rest is in the form of a loan.

Trump winning is dangerous for everyone; having said that, I am still unsure whether he'd actually do even 2% of the crap that comes out of his mouth.
