I should get my copy tomorrow. Been looking forward to this for a while. I own a Windows Phone so the "new" ui is comfortable for me. I'll also probably buy a surface for my travels.

My start screen at the moment:

Been working on custom tiles and finding better replacement icons for specific applications so it fits in with the style.

There has been 4 million Windows 8 upgrades in the past four days. Not a bad start!

Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system went on sale on October 26th, and the company has just announced it has already sold four million upgrade copies. At a keynote address in Seattle today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer revealed the first Windows 8 statistics — four million upgrade copies over the first weekend of sales.

Not bad, it would be interesting to see the stats for the number of PCs bought with Windows 8 installed and Surface sales as well. I imagine Windows 8 upgrade disc sales are not included?

I would expect Surface sales later on this year if it won't be mentioned in the BUILD keynote for sure. I'm not quite sure how they count it unless they just count activations? I'll wait and see if that gets mentioned anywhere.

"Sales of laptops dureing launch weekend have been ahead 20% of our forecasts" - Dixons
"We are excited about what we are seeing from initial sales and it looks to be good" - HP

Ah it probably is just activations. I can't imagine the laptops sold by Dixons/HP were all with Windows 8, they only say forecasts are up so that could just be machines rather than anything to do with the OS

I would expect a lot of the machines they now sell are running Windows 8. Although I haven't been to one of the stores since the launch so can't confirm
