I assumed from "The next cell must touch your previous cell in the pyramid. You will automatically be entered into the cell to your upper-left, if this is blocked you will be entered to your upper-right and all other players on your right will be shifted to the right" that if you can't go upper left you can still go upper right

The only reason given for not going into the upper-left is if it is blocked by another player.
