I see what you mean, I listen to Radio 1 quite a lot but find they are too rock based as you will normally hear The Klaxons or The Holloways played a few times during the day.

Taking on board your comments about variety of music though...
How do I word this ...

Themed shows would probably work but we also have to look at the listener stats. If they drop it means that the majority of people are not liking what they are hearing and therefore tuning out.

I'm sure most Djs would love to play rock all hour or rnb whatever their taste but we play the music we get the most requests for.

Tell us how to vary the music - is there on genre of music that is lacking on HabboxLive?
I would need to listen to Habbox Live for a good week to come up with an idea of what genres are lacking. Maybe you could remove the request line at certain times in the schedule, so you play for a few minutes some classic and chart songs, then open the request line for people ask for their songs? I am certain a DJ won't have such an acquired taste that his taste in music would not be liked by other people with the same taste in genre.

Maybe you should trial it, and compare listener stats at the same time, then collectively make a mental tally board which you then allocate hours for DJs to work around for certain genres. Like Friday could have 5 hours of dance, 1 of charts songs from every genre, and a few hours of rock etc etc THEN work in the requests.

I love your idea of 5 hours of Dance for a Friday night.

Well, as I'm only a radio DJ, i'll get Adzeh and Head DJs etc to have a look at this particular thread and take on board the ideas people have suggested.

Please do tune in to Habbox Live this week and then send us your suggestions again. Either via this thread, by PMin Adzeh &/or --MAD--

At the moment, Jess is on and current track is Supermal feat. Luciana - Bigger Than Big .. this is a dance track - so it proves we are covering at least the dance music genre too.

EDIT: I'm not on at all this week until Friday but I will have a word if DJs and get them to trial the 'Non Request' idea. It sounds good and I certainly like what i'm hearing.

Dance is okay, but no MC 'songs'.
Please, for heaven's sake, NO MC SMALLY OR MC LYRIC OR W/E.
The result of playing 5 hours of that will lead to the over-population of this forum by charvars.
(will be updated whenever I can be bothered to)

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.

It wouldn't be 5 hours of dance music :p the maximum hours DJs are allowed is 2-3 hours anyway and shows which focus on one genre are trialled first (based upon listeners' views).

I have informed HxL staff about this thread anyway so from now on any comments/suggestions, please be constructive.

    Thanks

Well maybe a HabboxLive Playlist Producer could be introduced to form a playlist of songs that should be played throughout the day, with spaces for the request line to be used.

This way, the DJs look at the playlist and see what song they should play next, the playlist constructed on new music, requested music, and some from other genres.

This is only an idea, but it would avoid hearing the same song too many times in a day, and possibly music taste issues.

And maybe you should get a clearer radio sound because not being funny but it seems really poor, Look at Kiss's radio its really clear but habbox is really poor, So maybe improving the music, And the radio itself, It would attract ALOT more listeners.

Edit// Also maybe instead of click on a link on habbox.com and the radio being refreshed, Maybe you should do something clubhabbo do with the pages.
LOL! Sorry, but that made me laugh.

Goth/Emo/Rock/Metal music is the best - I don't think they play enough of it.
i'm out of touch, i'm out of love
i'll pick you up when you're getting down
and out of all these things i've done
i think i love you better now

I'm sure Habbox would get more complaints if they played more chavvy music than rock etc

Anyway this thread is getting boring now, it should be closed.

Can some one give me an insight in to what chavvy music is. I mean, like their own opinion.

Also, rock music isn't the best but it's what listeners' prefer and we do play enough of it.

If you want your music on NOW i'm doing the request fest - so tune in >> www.habboxlive.com

So far i've had requests for:
    • Amy Winehouse
    • Green Day
    • My Chemical Romance
    • Lordi
    • Maroon 5
    • Rihanna
    • Toybox
    • Natasha Bedingfield

So the music is rather varied tonight and I'll keep an eye on what comes out the most too. I will talk to HxL Staff about a 'playlist producer' also.

Please keep your comments/suggestions coming in. Constructive ones though please .

    Many Thanks

Back when it was run by others, when the application forms were released and applications were welcomed - there would always be a question about their music, whether it is downloaded legally or not.
Anyway, limewire produces music for download that is not legal through the program. Limewire is one of the least legal programs that you can use to download music and so, the music downloads should be paid for and downloaded legally, using programs like iTunes (DOWNLOADED via iTunes, not just hosted).
Actually it has nothing to do with where the music is from. When I first started out DJ'en my music was bad quality and it was from CDs etc. Legal music.

It was because of my encoder, now I could sit here and type you out a guide on encoders and sam broadcaster but I'm not. Basically there is no set guide on what setting to have your encoder for HxL which is why sometimes a DJ may get it wrong. Trust me when I say there should be no more bad quality coming from the setting of the encoder because I have told people what setting is best

I think 5 hours is a bit much. You have to remember that although mainstream radio stations do things like this our audience is different. As it gets later we get more international listeners and they do not nessercairly want to hear all one genre of music, we as a radio station should be aiming to please everyone and attract new listeners at all times. However I could be wrong and it doesn't hurt to try ideas

I think a lot of the DJs try and put variety into their song choices and I think although people are saying there isn't much variety, there is. I listen a hell of a lot to habboxlive, in fact if I'm online I'll be tuned in unless I'm busy etc or it's me on air .

Also a lot of HabboxLive staff have seen this thread and are making sure now that they are playing a variety of music, me included
