Uhmm.. It would've been better if you asked people to choose work or prison based on the things listed in your post.

I would much rather have work. Even though I'll just be a wage slave and I'll never really enjoy the fruits of my work input, I still need a salary and it's just something everyone eventually has to live with.

Maybe if someone had absolutely nothing and was living out in the streets, then I think they'd prefer prison since everything is free.

How does this work then? Do you purposely get prosecuted for some hefty crime, and when the police are on your back you say 'I just wanna get free meals!'.
My friends mum works at a womens prison, and she said they have a gym, pool tables, entertainment and food, but none of that would bring me happiness if I had no freedom.
